@monkeygirl000 There's a method to washing dishes if you're freaked out by washing dishes in the "filth" of other dishes. You start with the least dirty (like glasses and cups) and move to the more dirty stuff, ending with the dirtiest pots and pans. If some things are particularly grimy, give them a quick rinse and then wash in the same water as the other stuff. It's incredibly wasteful to wash a whole pile of dishes under a running tap. Rather get a dishwasher then.

I've tried this method once, and it worked for me: put the jar (without its lid) into a pot of cold water (cold water is important cause, if you put it in already hot water, the jar may break) and bring the water to a boil (similarly to when you prep the jar for canning). Reduce the heat from high to medium and keep boiling water for 10-20 min - the label will soak enough by that point that, once you remove the jar from the water, it will become much easier to peel. Secret: you have to peel the label while the jar is hot. SO, to keep it from cooling, you can pour the hot water from the pot into the jar (enough to cover the label). Be careful not to burn yourself. It's better to have intact skin than to stress about a label. I've been holding the jar with my hand (in a mitten) while using my nails to carefully and slowly push the edge of the label. Depending on the type of paper used for the label, the label might even come off effortlessly (which was my case). If, for one reason or another, the label still clings to the jar, you might have to leave the jar in boiling water for longer (I wouldn't do it for longer than an hour total - the water starts to evaporate a bit if left for too long). Once you're done, take the pot off the heat and leave the jar in hot water till the water is warm. Try to remove the label at that point (will also be easier since the jar has cooled off a bit).

Simply turn your hair dryer on Medium Hot and aim at one corner of the label for about 15 to 20 seconds. I put a bit of dish soap concentrate with a bit of water on a plate and put the jar on the plate. Leave overnight. Part of the label that submerged in dish soap water will slowly peel off. I rotate the jar and wait overnight again. Sometimes it takes several days but you don't need to do any scraping or waste a whole lot of dish soap. If you are in a hurry, just submerge the whole jar in dish soap water. The concentration depends on how stubborn the glue is. Adjust accordingly.

@IIBLANKII5 жыл бұрын
The reason the cooking/olive oil did not work is that there was not something abrasive enough to get the oil under the adhesive. if you take salt and put onto the paper towel with the oil, then it would act like sandpaper (nowhere near enough to scratch the glass). Any type of oil and most adhesives dont mix ( like water, because of the electrons are both positive shells.) salt would let it surround the adhesive that comes off so it does not bind against the bottle again. scrub for 10 seconds clean with warm water and soap, and then do it again if cloudy. Edit * Forgot to add soap to the part for the 10 second clean off. soap as a whole dissolve in salts because it is nonpolar and oils dissolve the (HO)-. This lets you clean the oil off of it because water alone has trouble removing grease and oils.

He did it in the wrong order: the paper dissolves well in water, so you use hot/soapy water to loosen it and then scrape it away, then dry it off the jar. Then you use salad oil on the remaining paper pulp & adhesive stuck to the glass, and you typically lather on about quadruple what he put on the paper towel. Scrape the remaining oily adhesive off, then use soap and water to wash it all away and dry it again. If you follow that order and use ample oil, you'll get 95% of labels off jars with about 3-4 minutes of work.

I just immerse the whole thing in water until the paper falls off. About half the time that's all that I need to do. I just finish the label out of the dish pan and wash the jar. I do dishes in a dishpan and collect the water. Then I put the glass jar in it overnight and while I'm at work. Then I come home and peel a layer off if the label hasn't fallen off by itself. Then I repeat the soaking and peeling process until the label is gone. I remove the glue residue with coconut oil baking soda mix which I have ready in a jar at all times, wipe off the residue with a old napkin or paper towel. Then if anything is remaining I wipe that off with vinegar or a lemon or lime that I've squeezed the juice out of if I happen to have that on hand.

Have been watching your uploads recently. Love your recipes and style.... However (Yeah, hear comes the but), it is much easier to place the jar in the hot soapy water (glove hot) and let it sit in the hot soapy water while you clean the other dishes. You can just let the jar sit in soapy water in a bowl, is another way. You will probably pick up the label while doing the dishes. That's it! Soap helps with the glue. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes other times 20 minutes. You can add vinegar to help but it is about a cup, which is a bit of a waste when it is only one jar. As long as the label is submerged in the hot soapy water, that is important. Cheers!!

This guy underestimates how likely I am to jump directly to the « most agressive » method 😆

Save water man. Turn off the tap when you are working: collect some water in the sink and work with that.

I normally fill tha jar with water and refrigerate it. Take the jar out the next day, leave it at room temperature for 15 minutes and due to condensation the sticker comes out automatically. I wash it with soap and water later.

Boisitsos eucalyptus oil removes the adhesive in seconds. Just remove the paper part first by soaking in hot water.

You can just soak it for an hour, dry it, then rub with coarse salt and isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel then rinse with warm water

How do I get rid of the good odors from these jars? Any suggestions?
