@monkeygirl000 There's a method to washing dishes if you're freaked out by washing dishes in the "filth" of other dishes. You start with the least dirty (like glasses and cups) and move to the more dirty stuff, ending with the dirtiest pots and pans. If some things are particularly grimy, give them a quick rinse and then wash in the same water as the other stuff. It's incredibly wasteful to wash a whole pile of dishes under a running tap. Rather get a dishwasher then.

If you use a hair dryer on the label, it comes off without any water or scrubbing. The heat from the dryer loosens the glue and it peels off easily.

I just leave the jars I want by the sink until I wash up, then when I’ve finished doing the dishes I lower them into the used washing up water and leave them there for an hour or so. Then I wash away the old water, peel off the soaked label and then scrub any residue off with a scooter and a dab of washing up liquid. Much, much easier lol.

I've tried this method once, and it worked for me: put the jar (without its lid) into a pot of cold water (cold water is important cause, if you put it in already hot water, the jar may break) and bring the water to a boil (similarly to when you prep the jar for canning). Reduce the heat from high to medium and keep boiling water for 10-20 min - the label will soak enough by that point that, once you remove the jar from the water, it will become much easier to peel. Secret: you have to peel the label while the jar is hot. SO, to keep it from cooling, you can pour the hot water from the pot into the jar (enough to cover the label). Be careful not to burn yourself. It's better to have intact skin than to stress about a label. I've been holding the jar with my hand (in a mitten) while using my nails to carefully and slowly push the edge of the label. Depending on the type of paper used for the label, the label might even come off effortlessly (which was my case). If, for one reason or another, the label still clings to the jar, you might have to leave the jar in boiling water for longer (I wouldn't do it for longer than an hour total - the water starts to evaporate a bit if left for too long). Once you're done, take the pot off the heat and leave the jar in hot water till the water is warm. Try to remove the label at that point (will also be easier since the jar has cooled off a bit).

I thought that SURELY you were saving the Best and Easiest for last but no such luck. ..Here is an infallible way that takes less than 5 minutes with no Bitty Mess. Simply turn your hair dryer on Medium Hot and aim at one corner of the label for about 15 to 20 seconds. The glue will begin to melt quickly and you will most likely be able to peel off the whole label in one piece just by applying heat to where you lift the label. No fuss.. no mess and extremely effective 👌. Cheers from Ontario.

I put a bit of dish soap concentrate with a bit of water on a plate and put the jar on the plate. Leave overnight. Part of the label that submerged in dish soap water will slowly peel off. I rotate the jar and wait overnight again. Sometimes it takes several days but you don't need to do any scraping or waste a whole lot of dish soap. If you are in a hurry, just submerge the whole jar in dish soap water. The concentration depends on how stubborn the glue is. Adjust accordingly.

@IIBLANKII
@IIBLANKII 5 жыл бұрын
The reason the cooking/olive oil did not work is that there was not something abrasive enough to get the oil under the adhesive. if you take salt and put onto the paper towel with the oil, then it would act like sandpaper (nowhere near enough to scratch the glass). Any type of oil and most adhesives dont mix ( like water, because of the electrons are both positive shells.) salt would let it surround the adhesive that comes off so it does not bind against the bottle again. scrub for 10 seconds clean with warm water and soap, and then do it again if cloudy. Edit * Forgot to add soap to the part for the 10 second clean off. soap as a whole dissolve in salts because it is nonpolar and oils dissolve the (HO)-. This lets you clean the oil off of it because water alone has trouble removing grease and oils.

He did it in the wrong order: the paper dissolves well in water, so you use hot/soapy water to loosen it and then scrape it away, then dry it off the jar. Then you use salad oil on the remaining paper pulp & adhesive stuck to the glass, and you typically lather on about quadruple what he put on the paper towel. Scrape the remaining oily adhesive off, then use soap and water to wash it all away and dry it again. If you follow that order and use ample oil, you'll get 95% of labels off jars with about 3-4 minutes of work.

I just immerse the whole thing in water until the paper falls off. About half the time that's all that I need to do. I just finish the label out of the dish pan and wash the jar. I do dishes in a dishpan and collect the water. Then I put the glass jar in it overnight and while I'm at work. Then I come home and peel a layer off if the label hasn't fallen off by itself. Then I repeat the soaking and peeling process until the label is gone. I remove the glue residue with coconut oil baking soda mix which I have ready in a jar at all times, wipe off the residue with a old napkin or paper towel. Then if anything is remaining I wipe that off with vinegar or a lemon or lime that I've squeezed the juice out of if I happen to have that on hand.

I get those exact same jars. What i like to do is just rinse under hot water scratch some off the first wash and then by the 3rd rinse most of the label and adhesive is off. I know having part of a label on the jar when in use doesent look great but it works just the same and eventually i know the entire label will come off. I dont stress about it.

Have been watching your uploads recently. Love your recipes and style.... However (Yeah, hear comes the but), it is much easier to place the jar in the hot soapy water (glove hot) and let it sit in the hot soapy water while you clean the other dishes. You can just let the jar sit in soapy water in a bowl, is another way. You will probably pick up the label while doing the dishes. That's it! Soap helps with the glue. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes other times 20 minutes. You can add vinegar to help but it is about a cup, which is a bit of a waste when it is only one jar. As long as the label is submerged in the hot soapy water, that is important. Cheers!!

Straight into hot soapy water, wait a minute then use a knife the scrape off, then a scourer for what's left. Eucalyptus oil also just melts the glue right off.

I hear citrus essential oils melt it right off. I personally put boiling water inside the jar and scrub any excess sticker off with baking soda and either olive oil or lemon juice

That wooden spatula is important - metal will scratch any coating that may be on the glass, or possibly the glass. I found that out the hard way.

I also use a kitchen sink brush too. The ones with a study handle & hard bristles. Scrub bottle with it & soap.

I simple put those in the dishwasher on the bottom rack and they peel right off. Just don't forget to clean the screen at the bottom of your dishwasher after the cycle.

I soak mine in hot water and it peels right off. Alittle scrubber 🧽 with soap takes the little stickies right off. Of course as the water gets cold, I throw it away and add more hot water.

Just to add this since it's not a horrible way to use some cooking scrap: use the inside of any left over citrus peel. Whatever remaining fruit juice will help break down the adhesive/paper and make the process a lot easier(acidity yo). Or just buy a proper solvent.

I hate wasting water tho so I leave the jar in the sink while doing the dishes. Then go straight to a metal scraper I got a while ago. It’s 1, 2, 3. Done. Sometimes I use orange oil to help with more aggressive glues.

Soak the jar in water for about twenty minutes. Peel as much of the lable as possible. Then put distilled vinegar in a shallow pan and let the jar soak for twenty minutes. Then scrub with a scouring pad.

Well, after soaking the jar in question in hot water, I usually use stainless steel scouring pad and a little of the elbow grease to remove remaining paper pulp and adhesive ))) Gently of course ))

After the initial method you can simply spray with vinegar and use a safety razor blade and will easily take off remaining residue

The quickest way to remove the glue is with denatured alcohol available at hardware stores. Just dampen a paper towel with the alcohol and rub off the glue. You will want to do this in a well ventilated area and wash your hands thorough after or use gloves.

I normally fill tha jar with water and refrigerate it. Take the jar out the next day, leave it at room temperature for 15 minutes and due to condensation the sticker comes out automatically. I wash it with soap and water later.
