Why did you have to cut that bolt? Not tryna spend $40 on a bolt that should just come out
@kwill94852 жыл бұрын
In the process of that right now but can't get bolt out

A lot of times on these journeys the bolts have heat it up or bent or have been swollen and are seized inside the bearing of the toe arms. I talked to the dealerships around here and they say they usually use a torch to cut them off but I wanted a way to be able to get them off without having access to hydraulics or torch because if you use it towards you have to take the gas tank off because it is very close to the gas tank and this is the procedure I came up with. If the bolts will come out after you unscrew them then that is fine this procedure is for if they are seized in or completely stuck in the bearings this is a way to cut the old ones off as a last resort and it will also let you put the new ones on just like in the video.

I changed the title of my video just now. It is for if the bolts are stuck and it is common for the bolts to get stuck in these dodge journeys. And if you don’t have access to hydraulics or any fancy tools than that is why I made this video is for the people who have common tools and just a driveway with a jack. These things are a pain in the ass but it is very doable and I wish you luck my friend.

I just did this job too, took 8 hours and 4 sawzall blades. Tip keep the blade cool by spraying cheap lubricant on it so you dont wear it out as quickly. These are grade 10 bolts they are stupidly strong i recommend the diablo brand carbide teeth ones. It ate through several of my milwauke ones

These are definitely good tips.

very informative followed similar to remove my control arms , FYI DO NOT REPLACE WITH ORIGINAL UPPER GET THE ADJUSTABLE ARM........after i replaced with oem bar , camber was not able to be adjusted had to buy the adjustable to have rear alignment done . very good info here exp the flex socket with the long extension ...cheers
@bert3572 жыл бұрын
On the lower toe arm , I would suggest the cam washers are there to adjust toe in on the rear wheels so if you were to position the hole in the washers to the top like the one you took off, then you should tighten the nut rather than the bolt. The same goes for the bolts on the other arms, loosen the nuts before you put the impact tool on the bolts and they will come out much easier.

I understand what you’re saying and you are right if the bolts aren’t rusted and seized in place. But these bolts were really seized in place. And when I put new ones back on of course those weren’t seized. But I just wanted to take it to a alignment shop which I did immediately. So this is just the way I use to get them off of there as a last resort if there is no other way and they are stuck on there.

That part It is called the lateral link and the bottom lateral link that you cut the bolt out only thing you had to do is put the nut back on the front side and drive it out the back like I did mine but like I said the name of that part is called the lateral links.
@Mr_Goody Жыл бұрын
They are also called Toe Links just like I said. I appreciate the knowledge of you, explaining that they are also called something else but many of the same parts have different names. And also called Toe Rods. Go ahead and Google it if you don’t believe me.
@Mr_Goody Жыл бұрын
Also, the bottom Toe Rod is what was completely Stuck. I didn’t really have a problem with the top one.

It made a lot of rear clunking noise is especially when you would go over uneven roads, and the rear of the vehicle which way to the left and the right like, almost as if it was trying to fishtail.

I know this is an old video, but no matter what, do I need to get it aligned on the rear after changing the lower control arms on the rear?
@Mr_Goody2 жыл бұрын
Yes, cam bolts need to be aligned.
@chadgabehart20802 жыл бұрын
How would you do that , I have them I had to order them but I have them. The old ones where stuck and I had to cut them off. Should I just install them and take it to an alignment shop? I won't hold you to anything I know these videos are just FYI, DYI.
@Mr_Goody2 жыл бұрын
@@chadgabehart2080 What I myself would do and what I did in the video Let’s go ahead and install the new two arms and once you get them installed drive safely to an alignment shop and they were align them.
