How to Remove Sublimation Ink from Coffee Mugs with a Convention Oven

I try my hand at removing sublimation ink from coffee mugs with my convention oven!
It’s not fun when you mess up! What if you can try to remove the ink and reuse the cup?
Watch and see how my mugs turn out after a hour in the oven at around 425 degrees!

I was just wondering of this method messed up the coating that allows it to be sublimated? With the vinegar method and scrubbing, they say you can't re-sublimate. Any and all information is so appreciated, I just messed up a run of 7 mugs 😢

With the way of over heating/ burning it off, I was able to Re sublimate with a darker image. I used a dark background for the redo cup and tried to make sure all or most of the new image was placed just right to cover the existing mess up. Takes some thinking, measuring and playing around with cup idea to land it just right so no one knows it was a blunder at first :) I hope this helps!

I was watching this one video and she put the mugs in vinegar and let it sit and it came off. You might want to try that. You have to scrub a little but she said the longer you leave it in White vinegar it comes off. Also Acetone will take it off, that is probably your best bet and wrap it with aluminum foil it will come right off.

Would the acetone remove the sublimination coating? Jutst curious, I seriously have no idea....

I believe acetone may take the actual coating that makes them sublimation will rub off… I can experiment some time!

That’s a good idea :) I was actually thinking I may try to bake two of them lil longer … will see! It was kinda neat seeing wow the process can be removed/faded… I plan to experiment more soon! Keep eye out for the resubbing! (First I need to design! Hahaa ) thanks for watching!

Just started sublimation and came across this video can this be done on glass can cups if so what temperature please

Glass is one I have not sublimated yet unfortunately…. I wonder if @craftablethings would know? She is big in sublimation! This is an awesome question and great idea for a help video! When I do get some glass to sublimate I may need to try (I am sure I will mess up sometime!)

Can i do it in a regular oven?

Great question Jenny! They say you can use a regular oven as long as you plan Not to use it for food again. For safety reasons don’t unless you have a spare oven like out in a garage that you use for crafts :) also no matter what type oven you can make sure you have a temperature gauge inside that you can see well!
