try using a heat gun or hair dryer next time to heat up the rubber the glue will soften up and it will come off much easier

awesome video man. i really do appreciate it and the time you put in for a viewer. i blowed a first generation mtx thunder 8000 and had a 400oz motor sitting around that took a 2 1/2 coil. so i thought hell wouldn't that motor look bad ass on that 8000. but to be a true cross breed you have to save the cone and surround because thats what defines the look of the sub. so thanks again that method is working very as i just tried it.

Use a miniature torch for the surround. Carefully heat the frame and it will easily pull right off.

Appreciate your content man. Atm ive got 2 kicker l7 15s 1s got a big ass hole in the cone and good coils and the other has a nice cone but a blown coil. Going to try and swap the cone to the good coil.

Put a bit off paint thinner in syringe gentle squeeze around edges where there’s adhesive let it settle in for 15 mins are half hour peel off easily (or gas)

I think they use acetone, I’d like to know what solvent dissolves glue and not speaker paper!!

Stephen Umber there’s a special acetone they use to break down adhesives That’s the correct thing to use your so right but sometimes we got to use what’s around us

Carl Creary - thanks, yes, petrol, that’s what we call gas, will dissolve glue and also speaker paper, I think they put bitumen into it. This special acetone, is it sold specifically for this?

Next time use a little heat. Heat up the metal where the cone is glued too and it peels right off

Would this work with a paper surround, and paper cone? Did you repair that cone, and surround with a new spider, and coil, and reinstall it?

Use 90% alcohol. Softens the glue. Heat gun helps too.

Hey mazda i have a quick question for you. Did you repair this speaker? I actually have the exact speaker and managed to remove the cone safely. I have the hookup for the spider and the voice coil but alot of videos show people removing the dust cap in order to apply the voice coil which looks pointless to me. How did you come about reparing this one?

I have found that a small putty knows gr works better than a screwdriver to remove the surround.

The glue is easier to remove if you leave the subwoofer in the fridge for 20 mins. call be crazy but it works. the glue freezes and comes off with no problem.

its a 1.5'' voice coil , 12'' poly cone , and i dont remember what size spider ...but after the cost of all those parts you are better off buying a new nvx nsw / vsw or rockville k6 or something like that , you will have a better sub and warranty

lol men i do that in 5 miutes and no hard work on it sorry but you can damage the subwoofer and in the warst case put the screw driver in to your hand :)) you just need a Nail Polish Remover apply somme on the edge of the surround get a smoke comme back and do that easier ... sorry for ma bad english but no 10x a wount do that !!
