Thanks for the tip on pulling the buttons up, older toilets I've seen come off by unscrewing the button housing. Once they were up, the screw was obvious. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge :)

The flush buttons just pull up. Then there's a white plastic screw that you undo. An that's it, should be able to lift lid.

On my old one the whole round bit unscrewed and then the lid could come off. On my new one the buttons pop out and there is a giant screw underneath that holds the lid down.

Great advice, got me looking in the right spots. My system was a little bit different, if I lifted one of the 2x button there was a small indent/slot on the inside of each botton. Just pinched it firmly and lifted the button out, do the same for the other button. Then I could see the screw on the inside of the cavity, after unscrewing it and removing the plastic chrome cylinder the lid just lifted off.

Thanks for this! Couldn't work out what was holding the lid on until I watched this, and now I've taken it off and stopped the tank draining. Saved me at least £50 on a plumber, I'd say!

In Spain we have the pull type flush only thing is it stays elevated just a little so the flush stays running when you walk away.

six years on and this video is still useful. Thanks. For those who like me did not realise, push one button down, and, with a small screw driver, lever it under the other button and lift it up and out. Now you can remove the remaining button with your fingers, and use a screw driver to undo the plastic screw that holds the lid on!

It's been years that ours hasn't been flushing properly but I could never lift the lid without forcing it so I stopped. I can only hope I find screws when I look. Thanks again, this gives me hope i can finally fix it.

Thank you for the video. Can someone explain how the flush works on these toilets. There are 2 buttons. Which is short and which is long? Can I press both together? Can I press and hold?

Depends which way around the buttons were configured, you can push them both togethe,r hold down and you will get the full flush.

My buttons come off but the stalks are fixed and the plastic round housing has no groove so you can not get a screw driver in. So can not see a why to get the lid off!

Use a knife under the chrome ring, once you get enough gap then use a screwdriver.

I hoped to see the magic trick from 0:50 to 0:51. That's the part I don't get. I could though lift the lid just enough to turn the it 90 degree to be able to get to the calcified area that prevented new water to flow. So I'm all good :-)
