Superb effort, with a mechanic who has words of wisdom such as 'smooth is fast', really liked that. For this car, it s a pity than the root cause will not be found, although interesting assumptions were made. There are lots of threads on alfa forums that would take benefit of this hands on experience. Having the oil pressure monitored with data logging/odb or other means would be of help, to validate or invalidate the assumprions made in the video. About the video format, it is clearly too long, in these days of low attention span in the general public . To increase views, liekely worth to have such video scattered in several videos, named by theme. e.g. removing sub frame, oil sump remove and install, road test and rambling etc Keep on the good work anyhow!

Hello, thank you very much for watching! Indeed the video is too long and I could do it on 3 or 4 separate shorter ones. But for this channel, interestingly enough the longer the video the better the result! It's very counter intuitive but it works. About the car, at the time I did not had my new autel to get access and read parameters, unfortunately. And with those symptoms, the 5w30, the nasty oil filter, the teared seal, I really thought that was it. And probably the final step was really the regulator, like on the latest 1.3 mjet.

We made an aluminum replacement with Viton O-rings (heat, oil, and fuel resistant, better than the regular NBR), so far doing well in a Ducato 2.0 Multijet.

I am thinking about giulia with 2.2 jtd but judging by your movie and opinion read on groups, forums I would rather stay with my 159 1.9 8v jtd. :D , btw. to avoid warning message after oil change you could filled up a filter.

I had similar oil pressure fault with my psa 2.2hdi engine. Did change oil pressure sensor, oil filter housing, original oil filter and oil pump. However all those do not fix the problem. Quite frustrated. Lastly we had to change main and conrod bearing. Then no more oil pressure issue. I wonder why alfa designed 2.2 engine using only 3litres oil and 0w20 grade? You can see how narrow and deep the oil pan is, like with the small engines. That way they can use less oil. Less oil warms up faster so the pollution level lower to the nominal level quickly. And thinner oil means less mechanical losses, so again better fuel consumption and lower emmissions. It is the modern day design... But personally, I don t like it. More oil makes the oil work less hard, as it can absorb more carbon and soot before it gets saturated. And can cool the engine and the oil itself more easily.

Hello. The 0w20 is due to emissions. A bigger oil pan meant a taller engine and with that a taller car, for that poor emissions. About the oil pressure, I'm pretty sure now that the regulator is the main issue.

Hello , just to let you know that the early OIL PUMPS on this good engines ( 2.2 and 2.0 jtdm) 180 hp are faulty and can ruin the engine , there is an upgrade that Alfaromeo sells

as on Stelvio oil filter is hard to reach and messy (rarely someone uses/knows drain screw.), some mechanics do not change filter, only oil...i guess even without warning light, over time bearings can be damaged.

I seriously reconsider buying a q4 stelvio 2.2 . Can't believe it takes so much work. On the 2.0 jtdm is way easy.stupid design to reach and remove the sump.

i had the same problem on my stelvio q4 oil pressure warning when i relese the gas pedal it was the oil pump i found metal parts from the oil pump inside the sump and on the oil filter ... i have changed 2 turbos cause of that ...

Hello. The service news says that the metal shavings come from the Q4 oil sump and cause that. That's why they say it has to have a new sump.

Why repair of whole engine? The problem maybe the oil pump, not engine. Also NOBODY should use oils that are thiner than 30. Manufacturers go crazy to get certifications and killing engines. 0w-20 is a water not oil....internal combustion engines are doomed... maybe for the better... EV are great but there is no infractructure, and no quality EV cars
