How to remove the upper dash dashboard pad on a 1997 - 2003 ford F150 Expedition & Lincoln Navigator

Great video showing the hidden bolts, and how to remove a 1997 - 2003 Ford f-150 upper dash pad panel. In this video I will show you step by step on how I remove these panels. Excellent video, one note, when removing the light switch just pull off the knob, reverse it and put it back on, then it will turn and release the latch without using a screwdriver, which may damage the latch tabs.

I have a 2001 Ford F-150 SuperCrew that I have been spending the past year customizing it’s appearance. However, because my trim spec is an XLT, it obviously didn’t come with everything that is included. So far I have been able to add features like automatic headlights with fogs, and mirrors with turn signals (both are available on Lariats & King Ranch). These have been easy thankfully as I discovered that my truck came prewired with them, and all I had to do was get new mirrors and a automatic light sensor. I just replaced the entire rubber dash pad while I was at it with a nicer one that had a sensor since the old one in mine was very worn. I also need to get a new overhead ECU module hopefully with MPG (Compass & Temp is a must) because my old one died. The one thing I was also interested in adding was the digital clock OEM that is seen in the 1st Generation (97-02) Lincoln Navigator. I expect that I would have to swap the dashboard panel that’s in my F-150 with one from a 97-02 Navigator that includes the insert on your left of where the radio is. So I’m just wondering if that would be possible if my truck would have come with a wiring harness & connector hidden behind the radio for a Navigator clock, as well as if the dashboard panels in the F-150 and Navigator were installed the same and can be interchangeable..?

I just had my '03 Harley F-150 apart today doing a radio install, there is no wiring in that truck for the clock. It wouldn't make much sense for Ford to prewire an option the model never had. I can't imagine it has more than just a pigtail off the radio harness or something that delivers battery, 12v switched, and ground.

There’s a certain way to remove the headlight switch. Turn the knob so the lights are on. Pull knob out. Place a pick or small bladed screwdriver into the slot, remove knob. Rotate knob 180°. Put knob back on. Turn headlights back on. This will release the tabs that are holding the switch in place.

​ @dpad133 You have to remove the whole panel as shown above and remove from the backside. I was able to find a handful online in my dark beige color. So after buying that whole part above I then removed the vent I purchases from the back and added to the one in my truck. There are quite a bit of screws (not hard) just tedious and (BE CAREFUL) the paint chips easily on our older trucks. There were about 3 Ebay guys out there with the full panel and the vent included last I checked 2-months ago. Maybe more in your color?? Oh also be careful with your headlight switch. Don't pry on plastic rim to pull out (you need to go a little deeper to the metal to pry out. Otherwise the plastic rim will pop off the metal bracket that holds it in place.

Takes me only about 5 mins to get all those panels off of mine.I removed all the screws and threw them away.The clips that are on those panels will hold them on good enough.I don't want to be taking out screw for 20 mins everytime i want to do something behind the dash. 😀😀😀
