It was a long task but I am glad we did. The new insulation is going to do a much better job than this old, wet, moldy fiberlgass stuff that was up there. Plus we found a couple spots of rusts that we can fix and clean up before they get much worse

1 simple trick i learned yrs ago about insulation itch. after work either 1: go jump in an ice cold river/stream or 2: fill a tub with ice and water and lay in it. either way about 10 mins and no insulation itch..the ice cold water will open your skin pours and water flushes out the insulation..i worked with insulation in 1985 and had a ice cold river by my home that i got in for 3 days after work and never itched a bit after that😁

For anyone who is watching this to see how to remove rivets I used a small Alan screwdriver n a hammer n there were a few that were hard but 90% came right thru n then u use something to remove the round head part of the rivet n it's way faster to do it this way but when I say faster it still takes a few hours

I was a professional insulator for a couple years and cold showers immediately when you get home with a lot of soap gets all of the stuff off of your skin before it can get into your pours and start itching

Oh I wish our ceiling screw came out that easy. They are super stuck in and I"ve no idea how to take them out. Maybe grinding?

Having done this job just recently, I know exactly what your wife went through with all those screws. You owe her big time! lol

I am always jealous when I see someone that had screws holding everything together, we had all of the rivets =)

The bus roof and windows leak. Causing mold in the insulation. Gross.

@BackroadPurpose

I took a lot of it to the scrap yard and got a few bucks for the stuff I scrapped. The rest I had to take the dump. Thanks for watching btw!

I've heard of people using wool for insulation in van builds. Have you considered wool for your Skoolie?
@BackroadPurpose
@BackroadPurpose 5 жыл бұрын
We have. We did a bunch of reading about insulation and how it works and what would be the best and wool is definitely a great often for the R Value that you get but it was a little more expensive and also if you gets wet, game over. So we actually found an awesome deal on Craigslist for some 1.5" high density foam with a 7.5 r value.

We're not. We're not very tall people so it's not necessary for us. But definitely something we considered.
