You can strip the old brake or gear cable outer shell and use the inner plastic tubes for cheap guides., the gear cable for the gear routing and the brake cable for the brakes just make sure you pick the longest used cables instead of throwing them out. Cost is Zero £.

👍 Nice work. Do you find this easier than using a magnetic cable routing kit? Do you save those guide tubes for later use? I can see this being the type of job one does a couple of times to become a familiar process. Be interested if you also covered the part that ALWAYS vexes me: removing old then attaching new cables to the shifters. Same for brake runs (caliper or hydraulic).

I have a 2021 Allez Elite with internally routed rear brake caliper cable and I can feel heavy friction in lever and hear rubbing noise inside top tube. Might housing be too long and has too much bend inside the top tube? Thanks.

thx for the video! My main problems with internal cable routine are: 1) removing the dang cover under the bottom bracket on my friend's Fuji. I am scared of damaging the edge of the cut-out on the frame. 2) in doing multiple cables at the same time, I have to be really careful not to get them wrapped about each other. I usually will route one and tape it really tightly against the frame, then do the other. If the bike shifts badly when you're done, you probably have them twisted about each other. How do you guys/gals deal with these issues?

@@PopkosCZ Sorry for the delay in responding. A good approach to replacing the cable and housings, is to (assuming the housing goes through the frame), yank out the cable, replace the cable, then yank out the housing, and then replace the housing. You can do it in the reverse order also. Anyway, that way you always have something which guides the other through. Some frames have a cable guide permanently in the frame, so you just feed the cable through.

The foam is a good idea! Especially within the down tube.

Hello, You can simply leave the plastic tube inside the frame. They will prevent any rattling in the frame
