I can understand the "saving money" part... but what about the other blend door that's above the hot / cold door that you fixed? I believe it's the one that directs the hot / cold up or down.

This is the same way we did ours 4 years ago. Cut the airbox and seal with HVAC tape. It is still working just fine. Small hands help! We reattached the cut off flap with 5-minute epoxy to pin it in place and then used clear silicone all around to seal.

Thank you very much for sharing this. Very informative, and a way better alternative than pulling the dash.

What did you use to repair the heater box when you finished?
@DJsWorkshop6 ай бұрын
I used a flat blade soldering iron and melted the plastic back together, basically welded it back together

Any tips on getting the hole cut properly? Yours looked pretty clean!

I just carefully cut the lines straight with a multi-tool. Worked well for me.

How did you ‘weld’ the cover back in place - JB Weld?

I melted it back together with a flat blade wood burning iron

I just did mine and instead of welding the piece i had cut out (since i had to enlarge the opening) i just used the same duct tape over the opening. Worked great!😅

Great idea, great video. Unfortunately I paid someone last year.... I have the earlier (pre'96) model, I suspect this would work on that as well, do you know?
@DJsWorkshop9 ай бұрын
The design might be a little different but I think the procedure would still work.

Thanks. Again: great video, I bet at some point it will take off. This is a terrible problem which everyone with AC in a vw T4 (maybe you should put T4 in the title) has.

Ok and how make this in Audi A3?
@brad83037 ай бұрын
That's what I've been doing for years but without cutting any of the plenum assembly or taking the dash all apart like that
@mingram4 ай бұрын
How?
@braddowns174 ай бұрын
@mingram By going through the floor vent from driver's side. Remove the lower center dash pieces. Then lay on your belly and reach in with left hand and remove all old foam and then the same way to put in the aluminum duct tape. I cut 2" pieces and work at covering the holes. Ours has been over 8 years now and I've done quite a few other Eurovan's and Rialta's with the Eurovan chassis. Also quite a few others have used my method.

Does this work on other year models of Euro Vans, like for the 93' I have? I have an instruction, but it shows it with taking the hole dash apart!
@DJsWorkshop7 ай бұрын
I am not sure but I would think that it would. Obviously they are not going to want you to cut a hole,but it worked for me and saved me a lot of time and aggravation.

You referenced a "multi-tool". Did you use a Leatherman or similar? Manual cut it like a small saw?
@DJsWorkshop7 ай бұрын
It was an oscillating multi tool like this. www.harborfreight.com/3-amp-variable-speed-oscillating-multi-tool-59163.html

Hi , I watched your video and woukd like to try this . I know it’s a long shot that you would know , but do you think it would work on 1995 EVC? Thanks

I don't know for certain but if the setup looks the same then I would think that it would.
