Great video 1 step left out that I found was to tilt the seat up while it’s plugged in. If not you can’t get to the T40 In the back other than that very easy

Good Video! Ok, the part you are calling "little cable" is called a "drive shaft". Most Corvette people call it "the rod". The aluminum "block" called a "carrier" that you insert the 2 new plastic shims inside, after removing the big-long screw, "carrier lead screw," running through the track "the carrier". The "carrier" has a metal threaded square nut "carrier nut" with an inverted "v" that protrudes so it is visible before and after you remove the carrier. When you re-shim this carrier, be sure the nut has the inverted V facing so you can see it. Note: if you try to buy the "little cable" "drive shaft", good luck. Some models like the 1999 C5 have a 9" long drive shaft that is steel molded within a spring. The two ends of the driveshaft are square. One, 5/16" diameter end, fits inside the carrier lead screw. The other 3/16" diameter end, fits in a bearing also with a square hole, that is screwed to the end of the track. Often the drive shaft it is broken in two pieces near the middle. Yours is (as you say) a little cable and more flexible. You're lucky! Apparently, Chevy realized this marvel of engineering would break, and seems to have fixed the problem. After exhausting hours of searching the internet, how to do it videos, and calling many parts houses (including several Chevrolet dealerships and their parts suppliers) these drive shafts are no longer available. I have had no luck finding 4 replacement drive shafts. No one even has the "little cable" type of drive shaft your car has. This is a problem. I am going to go to a race car builder friend of mine to see if he can build one or weld the two halves back together and make it whole again. The worst part: is the driver seat right track's drive shaft, which is broken in two, has only 1/2 of it. If he can, he will have to design another half for it. Fun! Wow! But; this Corvette is too nice to give up on and I will win in this contest of wills with it. 🙂

Kind of annoying that the guy's son is acting in the video instead of the guy who actually knows how to do it, who has to keep helping him from behind the camera anyways.

Thanks for watching. Actually my son researched the entire project and did it proactively all himself. I had no idea on how to tackle this at all. All I did was hold the camera here and there for him and make a couple comments.

I think it’s rather encouraging that a young man is getting some hands on experience and getting his hands dirty. I remember many times my dad tell me to do it and if he noticed that I was messing up he would say you may want to do it this way.
