Thank You for the great video. While not wishing to debate the merits of what type of fillers to use - the right choice will depend on the location of the job and the fillers that are available - you have highlighted the critical point of having to widen the crack before repairing it. Hairline cracks may not need that step. But anything wider than 5mm probably will. Great tip about using a shop vac to suction up the concrete dust. If you are outside, you can use a fan to blow the dust away from the area. In some situations, simply wetting the area before grinding it will reduce the dust. Let the area dry before proceeding with the repair. Speed up the drying process using a blower, hair dryer or low output heat gun. BTW, you look and sound a lot like Marin Cilic the tennis player. We missed his presence at the Australian Open this year. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

Thanks for the video. Is there any advantage to using a crack chaser over a tuck wheel or concrete cutting wheel...besides the v shape vs u shape and cost? The one you used was a concrete cutting wheel no?

Yes I used masonary/brick/concrete wheel from Home Depot. There is no much of a difference between this one and crack chaser. Chaser will be faster and wider crack but you can get the same result with regular wheel and it is much cheaper and more available.

What's the best way- here you used Sika Flex Pro; others use cement or Betta Concrete Crack Filler etc. Whats the difference?

They are all very similar, based on polyurethane self-level compound. Sika is proven brand so I go with that.

did you need backing rods?

No, my crack was small, but you can use it for bigger cracks, or fill the bottom with sand or even better I would recommend using any kind of cheap caulking like painters caulking ALEX (exterior/exterior) to clog the bottom of the crack.

My experience in Ohio is these type of repairs only last if you use backer rod. Never used sand, so I can speak to how well that holds up. Three side adhesion (side, side, bottom) is the problem. Repairing a crack as shown in the video will fail within 12 months...at least where freeze thaw cycles happen over and over.
