I live in a boarding house with seven boarders including myself. The house manager had purchased a used Toshiba microwave that worked fine for a few weeks. Then, the turntable stopped working. She thought it was because one of us had gotten water on the turntable. Meanwhile, we kept using the microwave. However, I like popcorn, and, with the turntable no longer working, the popcorn popper couldn't rotate. I was thinking about buying a new one when I checked online for a possible cause and found it could be the motor stopped working. After watching this video, I think I'll suggest the manager ask her husband to replace the motor which would be cheaper than buying a new microwave. Thanks for determining the problem, the solution, and filming how to replace the motor.

Thank you very much for making the video and sharing it. It is quite impressive. I could not find an exact match for my Turntable motor assembly. So I was forced to overhaul the motor assembly. I just replaced the magnetrons and turntable motors on two almost identical LG microwaves. They had identical problems after exactly 4 years. I waited to repair the first one until the second one broke. Now I have two. I am never buying another piece of crap that ends up in a landfill with the ones from my 320 million fellow citizens. Save the earth! The magnetrons were $30, and the turntable motors were $10. Microwaves were $200 each. It took a lot of my time following videos, but this 67 yo female is glad it worked! Hope they last. I was hoping you would identify the grease they seem to put under the motor. In my earlier model, the black wire inserted on the left, and in the latter model, the white wire inserted on the left. They added a second high voltage fuse to the latter model, which they sell for $12 because only LG makes a 5K volt 0.95 amp fuse, so I used 1 amp. I don't think you really need a second fuse.

I have a 18yr old over the range Maytag microwave and the motor must of went bad at least I'm hoping. The drive will turn on its own until I put the glass plate down and the drive don't seem to have the power to turn while that glass plate is on it. For $20 or so I think I'm going to order that motor, new over the range microwaves in the size I have are around $400+ and then Id have to special order one because I want black and I don't like looks of stainless steal! I think the $20 motor part will be worth the guess and save some $ if it works. My 24 yr old whirlpool refrigerator could go bad anytime now and looks like I'm going to run into the same problem all stores pushing that ugly stainless steal.

hamilton beach is garbage. Mine has the exact same bottom plate. I also figured out that I can snip the metal to get the plate off. You say it is genious but I was confused on why I had to snip it off instead of there being a screw. so no way to put it back on. No motor under the plate. So it fell off. Most everything today is made to go to the junkyard rather than being fixed. 2 screws and I would have know how to get to the turntable motor. They don't want you to fix it, just to buy a new one., That is how the make money,.
@jamescole315218 күн бұрын
Ok I see it will go back on. They make it like that so your average guy can't figure it out. Most will just buy a new one. I took off that plate and there is no motor. It slid off to where I can't see it.
