To prevent scratching the shower head tubing, put a little electrical tape around the jaws of your channel locks!

I was taught to use a leather belt, plumbers don't need a belt anyway....it just ends up in their tool box.

I have two of these in my 1967 house that both drip, one shower only, the other tub with diverter on the tub spout. The large nut won't turn to come off with moderate pressure. I'm afraid to crank harder for fear of destroying the valve or plumbing behind the tiled wall. Any suggestions on how to loosen the nut without causing major destruction? Thx

You can try cutting the nut off. Probably gonna be your best bet to get it off.

I have the same shower valve in 2 bathrooms they are back to back, so no easy access. Is there any way to change that ugly 1970's handle ? Thanks.
