Why does the jeep dealership I called today tell me the screen has to be “programmed” to my vehicle when it is replaced? Your video makes it seem like I just put a new screen in and plug it back in and it’ll be good to go?

These guys are awesome!!! Got it installed on a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here are some helpful tips. When disconnecting the ribbon cable, there's a black plastic piece holding it in place and it acts like a door on a hinge. Flip up to unlock the ribbon cable, then when you reinsert the ribbon cable, latch the piece back down on it. Tip #2. Wear gloves! There might be goopy stuff from where the old screen leaked.

This is exactly what I'm going thru with my 2018 Challenger. Been dealing with the beeping and ghost screen presses for almost a year. Been constantly putting it off and even considered taking it to the dealership but I know they'll charge an outrageous price. This looks like something I can do on my own hopefully. Guess the hard part is getting the radio out the console

I just completed this exercise my 2018 JL, and these instructions worked perfectly and were as easy to apply as the video illustrates. The only difference was mine was messier, as the original screen had leaked more sticky goo (it even oozed down on the switch assembly beneath the radio). Rubbing alcohol and q-tips did a satisfactory job in removing it. Thanks for this, and thanks for making the process of identifying and buying the new screen easy as well.

1/2/24 - I ordered my screen directly from OEM 4 days ago and it came today. I installed it in 1.5 hours and it works like a charm and looks fantastic. Im the most unhandy dude on the earth and I was able to do it. The scariest part was ripping the radio dash off. Remember to use the duct tape on the unit before you remove the screws. That really helped. Very pleased. Saved myself over $1500.

So, a few days ago my 2018 RAM 1500 Laramie's UCONNECT screen went black. The dealership only would say "a component is bad" and that I needed a new "radio." The radio works fine, the phone and nav system works fine...just the screen is black. Would a screen replacement work or could there be other issues warranting a new "radio?"

Your screen is bad, the head unit should be fine. Had that happened before and new screen fixed the problem

2 things. One is maybe you didnt set the ribbon cable all the way in, or two, is you bought a cheap Chinese screen and it failed on you right out of the box, I’ve seen that happened to other ppl. You wont be able to change digitizer on that Chinese screen.

Black wire is for the bluetooth antenna, it still will work within the car, if you don’t really care about bluetooth then dont worry about it, if you do then you gotta replace it. We dont sell just a wire.

@molafi3234 its almost impossible. People that tried to change it , end up buying the whole screen, because the sticky stuff leaks inside the screen and damages the layers that inside the screen it self. Thats what you see the glowing part on the inside the screen.
