Luke here from the future, I have one of these in my collection, thankfully the screen and camera adhesive had failed from age and i can easily replace both without the need for a heatgun...thanks so much fot the informative repair Video on both this and the Nexus 4 Video!

@@lancefeng1563 if it's just the adhesive you need, I can recommend double sided tape (the small strips for phone repairs) or the slightly Messier B7000 glue

Great video. Had to do this twice, because the screen panel I ordered online did not work properly. It was so dark I could barely see anything. I guess there was some kind of backlight problem in it. So I had to keep the cracked screen :((

SO... I think it's SUPER important to point out that there must be more than one model of G4. I mean, everything was going great.. until I destroyed my camera by prying it out.. when it's NOT supposed to be pried out, like the model in the video. There's simply a connector to the left of the camera that needs to be disconnected, before removing the motherboard. I certainly read the "NOT RESPONSIBLE" disclaimer at the beginning of the vid. I just wish there had been a notation about the different models of G4s.. before I literally destroyed my main camera by prying it loose from it's housing. .. this thing has been sitting on my dining room table for, literally, over 7 months, because I was nerved up to tear into it. Finally, I had the right tools, the replacement screen, and the courage to tackle the operation.. only to completely fucking wreck my very expensive phone (plus the $60 replacement screen/kit). Super bummed.

What you talking about? Your phone is the same as the one in video. You must remove the camera to replace the digitizer. Maybe your camera was a little too tight and you pulled to hard. I'm handy but not so good with little intricate jobs such as this (already messed up one phone and one camera). You have to be extra sensitive with this stuff, and heating/cooling down components helps. By the way, nice car in your profile pic 👍👍

I broke my camera by heating the camera too much from a heatgun at 180 celsius, and the lens cracked. I misinterpreted Celsius and Fahrenheit of my heatgun :( The camera is stuck to the frame with adhesive strongly, unlike in the video where it just sticks loosely as it seems.

If you are comfortable with iphone screen repair this shouldn't be too big of a challenge.
