Hey, just a heads up if you are replacing the screen with assembly. Where the proximity sensor lies (between the front facing camera and front speaker) will be a small rubber insert, this will need to be transferred to the new screen to prevent the proximity sensor always registering something as near. This is due to it reflecting off the glass of the screen.

Great video!! Needed to change my screen out and even going slow and fairly carefully It only took me 33 minutes to tear down old phone, put new screen on and power back up. Everything went perfectly. Thanks for the video, helped a lot but super easy phone to work on for sure. Thanks again

One of the reasons why I bought this phone: It is so easy to repair! (replacing the battery, camera, display/LCD, ...) Really good work, LG! The environment is going to thank you. Hopefully it will survive the next 3 - 5 years! :D Very good and precise video, though! Keep going on.

Just replaced screen with frame as per video and suggestion. Went like a dream. Stephen Greenfield's comment re: transferring 'little light grey rubber insert' was only spotted after I'd finished so needed to go back inside (seen bottom left at 3:20). Despite this, great video that gave me the confidence to try this for myself and everything worked out just great. Many thanks.

i had it for almost 2 years, and i had all 3 problems in your comment. i had warranty, so when it started boot looping i just replaced the whole thing. noticed the image retention over a year into the phone, so no more warranty. but it was a small issue. and weak volume buttons happened about 1.5 years into using the phone. again, not a big problem, but somewhat irritating. overall, despite all these issues, i really liked the phone. i'm switching to the g6 in a week or so.

Excellent, I love how simple this tear down is on the LG G4. Compare that with the disposable hardware called the Galaxy S6 Edge; if you can't fix it you don't own it! IPS display on the LG G4 vs AMOLED on the Galaxy phones so no issues with screen burn-in that I've seen on so many of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2/3/4 & S5/6. I'll go for the LG G4 over the S6 Edge any day!

thanks so much. this was really helpful. saved myself 80 bucks by doing this myself. fyi... make sure you replace the proximity sensor or the phone will fail to stay on in dark light... I had no idea I was missing a piece to transfer. It's a small rubber piece to the right of earpiece at the top. You kind of have to dig it out but it's durable and you won't break it if you just tug on it. There's no adhesive and it slips easily into the replacement frame.

I found two gaskets that didn't come with my replacement screen that I needed to transfer over. The one for the proximity sensor is black, rectangular, and has two little round holes in it. It can be found near the top, next to the front facing camera. The other one is gray and has a rectangular hole and a round hole in it. It is on the top left. This fixed my issues with the screen turning on and off.

Hello Jerry. I followed your instructions to replace my broken display screen on my LG G4.. The device worked fine with broken screen, but I have replaced Moble and IPad screens and felt I could handle this repair. That being said... I purchased the complete screen with bezel online to ease the repair. After completing the repair, thanks to your excellent instructional video! The display works after repair, but there are a couple issues. 1. When display times out I should be able to tap screen twice to bring it back up. That does not function every time. I then have to press power button on rear of device to bring display back up. 2. When I receive a call the screen displays incoming caller info and I can answer call normally. As soon as I answer, display goes dark no matter what position and the only way to bring display back up is to press rear button. Seems I did not complete a perfect repair! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The LCD with frame from Repair Universe in the comments is bare bones. You'll need to make sure you transfer everything from your old screen to your new screen. This includes a few items not detailed in this video, such as the led and proximity sensor at the top of the screen. You'll also have to transfer the headphone jack. This was kept in place by adhesive on the old screen. It may work just throwing it in before closing it up, but I made sure the contact points were secure by putting a folded piece of plastic between the right side of the headphone jack and the board. Everything is working great. Thanks for the breakdown and replacement part information. I almost bought a new phone.

I've got problems with 3g signal, which leads to not being able to receive calls, while on GSM/WCDMA/LTE network regime, although 2g and 4g work perfectly fine. Only WCDMA won't receive signal at all. Wonder if its a software or hardware problem. Tnx in advance.

Hello Jerry, I'm having this problem with my LG G4 where it launches apps on its own (literally moving on its own) . It gets more annoying nowadays. What do you think is causing this and is there a DIY that you can suggest?
@rammohans13728 жыл бұрын
Hey Jerry, I found one thing missing from your video was that you do not mention about removing the headphone jack which is one more component that needs to be ported onto the new screen from your older screen. One more thing to take a note is that not all the vendors provide the rubber proximity sensor holder (I am not sure what term to use here). This is a small rubber insulator that houses the 2 sensors for the proximity sensor. The distributor from where I received my LG G4 frame didn't have this part and I started facing issue when I made a phone call. The moment I made a call, the screen used to go blank even though I had not placed the phone on my ear. I returned that piece and asked for replacement but found that the new replaced screen also had exactly the same issue. On searching on the net I found that there was an insulator kind of thing in the frame that my frame distributor did not supply with the LG G4 frame that caused the proximity sensor to think that the phone was held close to the ear all the time and used to turn off the screen when ever I made a call. One porting the rubber insulator from the older phone my issue got resolved and the screen behaved the way it should. Thanks to your video. This is the second time your video helped me to replace a part of the phone.

Thinking about buying a camera but I had no trouble taking the camera out. Any help would be appreciated and thanks

Hmm.... If all you replaced was the screen, i have no idea why the cameras would be malfunctioning. Like you said, those only need to be taken off if you are replacing them specifically. Check your connections again visually. Make sure everything is solidly connected.

When you remove the back of the phone and the battery you should see a little box on the battery and a little box on the phone, if either of these boxes are red instead of white then water has done irreparable damage to the phone. If neither of them are red or just the battery is red buy a replacement battery from amazon.
