I JUST followed this to fix my LG G2 and its now working perfect again with a brand new screen. As i decided to buy direct OEM straight from LG it did cost more, but i know for sure its OEM and done right as i trust myself over a store doing it. Spent about the 15 mins watching it completely once, then went through again while following along. Perfect guide for anyone whos going to change the screen themselves and believes they can handle it. To scale it, its probably a little harder than dissembling and reassembling a desktop computer. Just things are more fragile which is actually the hardest part. Just take your time, keep track of your shit, and maybe youll only be here once and never have to fix your phone again

Shipped on friday afternoon, arrived in Sweden the next monday(8 workdays) and they marked the value lower than its actuall value so I dodged customs! Really made me happy. The repair went along really smooth, only annoying part was the adhesive but it worked out great with some patience. Really helpful video, really good OEM screen. Remember to test it before you apply the adhesive and remember to take your time, delicate components! Thank you Fixez, great price for a great product. Saved me about 70 bucks to change it myself and it's the cheapest OEM display I could find out there.

Thank you so much. I watched this three times before I went to work and I found it fabulous! For anyone attempting this watch out for the mic rubber gromit which comes out with the mic. Using a magnifying glass I could see there's a bit that sticks out that helps identify which way to replace it. The rubber gromit needs to be replaced correctly so the mic hole is kept open. Thanks for the video. :D

I just replaced my screen last night. It was easy but still took 1 1/2 hours because I didn't want to rush it. The most time consuming part was cutting the adhesive into the perfect size strips. Overall my phone is fix and a big thank you.

I ordered the display from the site and followed the video instructions. good news is that my phone came back to life and it's working really great. However, i think the touch experience is a little bit less than the original screen but i can live with that :D if it's your first time (like me) make sure to put enough adhesive on the edges to avoid the display light leaking from there. my model is D802 btw

Fixed my g2 last night, turned it on and bam! I'm up an running again with zero issues at all. I replaced both the lcd&digitizer, and from what I can tell, that is much easier to do than just replacing the digitizer or vice versa. So if you are considering doing this just replace the lcd and the digitizer, you will thank yourself later, or if you dont you will wish you did.

Great video. My LCD/digitizer was replaced by a shop. They did a good job except that the new screen has visible pixel grids. If you look at the screen at even a slight angle, you can see lcd pixel lines like on the first generation smart phones from a few years ago. Is your lcd the same quality as the original phone or am I going to notice the same artifacts? Wondering if all these aftermarket screens come from one factory or if there are different quality screens out there. I would like to have the original image quality. Thanks.

I contacted the seller I purchased the display from and he's giving me a full refund, and he's paying return shipping :) I need to know if the display I purchased was compatible with the T-Mobile phone I'm trying to fix. All the connections and everything are the same as the one I took off originally. The model number on the back of the phone is LG-D801. Thanks for your continued input. I appreciate it :)

Just succeeded in changing broken screen following the instructions on this video. Easiest is to buy (online) an LCD display with frame assembly. Then all the steps shown in this video to separate the broken display from its old frame assembly are not needed. You can throw both away. Also you can safely leave the rear-facing camera attached to the motherboard, instead of removing it separately as shown in the video. Same for the mic at the bottom of the screen, which can be safely left attached to the dockport. But you will still have to go through all the steps to disassemble and re-assemble the loudspeaker, dockport, motherboard, and battery.

This was very helpful. Just saved myself $150-200 on a used G6 i thought I was going to have to buy. As has been said, take your time & definitely work around the connectors / components you're trying to move if at first they seem immovable. So the G2 gets another 6 mos - year before an upgrade. Nice. Thanks again.

2 questions. Why did you pry off the two bands on each side that connect to the motherboard. I didnt realize until later after I removed one that i didn't need to. 2nd question, since I removed one and not the other what glue was that you were prying that held it down. Was it some type of thermo glue?

Nicely Explained. I changed by LCD digitizer a week ago. But after that the proximity sensor doesn't seem to be working... The screen turns black after dialing. I checked with the proximity sensor app and it always shows 0.0 cm. It looks like it is detecting something to be very close 'always'. How to fix this issue? Should I change the set again or any fix is available...Any help would be appreciated....

First of all, thanks for the video! Clear instructions and a nice toolset to work with. I tried to replace my broken LG G2 screen and got through everything rather easily. However, now that I'm done, the phone turns on but the screen doesn't. The battery gets hot so I know it, and I can turn it on as well with a softreset. There's no responding from the screen whatsoever though. Anything I can try out?

***** Thanks for the reply. The battery temperature is indeed really high. I've never been near the battery without the case before though and with the case on it doesn't seem *that* bad. All the connections are properly connected. Could the faulty battery be the reason of the display not working? The phone also doesn't buzz when turned on, would that also imply that the battery might be broken?

It can be so bad that I cannot even use the phone. Any ideas as to what is happening here?

Every single one except for two were stripped and didn't work with my screwdriver, even after getting another screwdriver. Did lg do this? Thank you for posting. I've used this one to replace LCD and touch screen on my G2. After all 'hard-work' is done, I'm experiencing some problems with the touch screen. It's working only when I press on the edges of the screen. Actually, on the right bottom edge of the screen. I've double checked those three connectors of LCD and the touch screen, but the problem stays. I got the replacement parts in one piece with the frame and it looks like both the screen and the frame are not well sticked together. Could it be the issue? Thank you!

Hey thanks for a brilliant video! I did the replacement no problem. I have a question though i hope you can help with. The replacement screen I got was already in a frame and housing so i moved the battery and all the mounted smalls over to the new frame instead of removing the new screen and risk cracking it. in moving the battery though i have to use some elbow grease to get it out of the old housing and off the adhesive. i see now it won;t charge. Are these batteries easily damaged when removed?

Hello, I have a question for you guys. I have a Verizon LG G2 (VS980) whose removable sim card tray is now stuck. This happened because I naively left my nano-sim plastic frame in (the one which turns a nano-sim into a micro-sim), without the nano-sim. So the tray now hosts a plastic frame with a nano-sim-sized gap in the middle, which makes it impossible to extract the tray. Is it easy to just disassemble the sim card tray, without touching the motherboard? Thanks a lot for helping!

Thank you for the video tutorial. I purchased the screen+frame from your website and I'm very happy with the product. The screen seems to be high quality so far, I wouldn't doubt that it's genuine OEM. The installation for the screen+frame is almost exactly the same as shown in the video, there's just a few components that you have to transfer from the old frame to the new frame. I had no problems performing the repair, except I accidentally broke the earpiece speaker because I pried at it too close to the connections and they came off. However, it only costs a few bucks to replace the ear piece, so it's no problem.

Thank you for this vid ***** but i have a problem: my battery cover doesn't fit perfectly. Near the sim tray it doesn't hook and there is a little space where dust can get inside. What can be the problem? The cover or the telephone? Thank you again

Well..i haven't replaced the display assembly yet, but i notice this and i asked. I tried to disassemble and re-clip it to see if it will stay in place but it doesn't. It looks like the clip can't hold in place, because if i push down i hear the *tic* but when i release the finger the cover pop off again. I don't think it's a motherboard problem because the sim tray is in his right position. Sorry for bad english, wish you'll understand. Here is a pic: i57.tinypic.com/29c2bs3.jpg Thank you

Hello there! Amazing video tut and props for the great explanation! Just one question: Will a 1.9mm double-sticker do the trick as an adhesive for the assembly?
@Fixez
@Fixez 8 жыл бұрын
+GamoToTheoM I can't say for sure, the sides of the display leave little room for adhesive so it will have to be trimmed flush. Also the thickness of the adhesive will have to be considered as to not have the display sitting proud of the frame.

Thank you for this tutorial. ***** ! I have a question regarding the adhesive: my new display is not sitting completely into its housing. It is raised up just slightly enough for dust to get inside and if I turn my phone to the side I can see the light of the screen along the edges. I was wondering if I could start over and reapply the adhesive without causing damage to my new display, or would you recommend to just leave it be and use a case that would ensure no dust could get inside? Thank you!

***** Another adhesive question ... just received my new screen, but the adhesive is just a big piece, not pre-cut to the G2 as the link you have above indicates. Am I expected to attempt to cut this one-piece pad with scissors or a razor to exacting specifications as good as a laser cutter did to the pre-cut adhesive you linked to? Did I just receive the wrong adhesive with my new G2 screen?
@bariswheel
@bariswheel 10 жыл бұрын
Kevin Britko I received the same big piece from them and it is not precut. This was after I received the original kit, so I think they might have a workflow bug in their shipping as I'm not too satisfied with the overall experience unfortunately. What I'm reading in the below comments are customers cutting adhesive into perfect size strips, the strips on the side are barely 1-2mm, this information is missing from the instructional video. ***** Are we missing something here?
@bariswheel
@bariswheel 10 жыл бұрын
I'm looking at the adhesive that was sent to me and it's definitely not precut, it's a rectangular adhesive, all in one piece. My order number is 108811 , if you can send it to the address I have on file ASAP that would be great. Thanks for your prompt response *****
@bariswheel
@bariswheel 10 жыл бұрын
***** I just ordered it, order number 109728. Might I suggest that you underline and highlight to the customer the need to order this adhesive along with the so-called kit that has everything you need (or at least forces the customer to assume this) for fixing the screen, the customer needs the adhesive. This vital info is sorely missing and as a result a lot of the conservations and comments you're seeing on this video are your customers being confused about the absence of the adhesive that you need to buy as an extra item.

Hi ***** I have a question My d802 screen suddenly started exhibiting phantom touches Sometimes its so bad the device is unusable. There are a lot of comments about this in several forums and people are not sure if its a software issue. I'm pretty sure its hardware as, with the "show touches" function I can see how applying pressure in different parts of the screen affects the area of the phantom touches, moving the area or even making them better or worse depending on where I press. I'm wondering if this might be water damage, some humidity making bad connections somewhere. The thing is I was considering getting an LCD, they seem to come with a frame already, so I would just need to unscrew and screw everything into the new frame with the LCD and connect everything. The question is, how can I make sure the replacement I get is genuine? or at least has the same image quality as the original LCD ? Thanks!

Hi! I'm not sure if you'll know the answer to this or not (trying to save money). My phone dropped on the road and I found it there a little bit after it was dropped. The screen is cracked pretty bad and unresponsive; it's completely black and won't let me do anything about it, yet the little green light keeps blinking on the top left of the screen showing that my phone is still on and that it has a notification. I was wondering if this meant that the motherboard was still working? Or does that have nothing to do with the motherboard. (debating between buying a replacement screen and replacing it or having to get a new phone all together).
@miniwarrior7
@miniwarrior7 9 жыл бұрын
Plug it into your wall charger. See if it turns to the charging light. If it does that okay then try and plug it into a computer and see if you can access your files! If the computer reads the phone okay your motherboard should be fine and should be good to replace the screen. After much searching on ebay I found this Assembly for my own phone: www.ebay.com/itm/231426613277 Seems to be a good seller and a brand new screen

alexis bartlett $45 for a new screen is alot nicer than $200 for a new phone :P That is if you liked the G2 when it worked.. Only buy the one I linked if you have the D800 AT&T or the D801 model

topher Also be sure the new screen will drop into the frame that you have if you dropped it and bent the front frame you may have problems.. There are other ebay listings for a little more that have the entire Frame Digitizer and LCD assembled. You will have to take your camera, speaker, light sensor and such off your old frame assembly tho.
