Thank you so much for this video. Thanks to you I was able to order an OE fan assembly and replace it on my own, saving hundreds of dollars! This is coming from someone who’s never even changed my own oil. My 2011 Ford Edge was overheating so bad but now it’s back to running smoothly and thanks to my new fan, the A/C is pumping ice cold air. Again, THANK YOU sir. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Great video. Just replace the one in my sons car. The screw on the left side of the assembly is definitely easier to take out if you remove the radiator hose. (The whole assembly comes out easier too) you’ve gained a subscriber from this. Thanks!!

Good procedure to remove and replace fans, but a couple of steps are not necessary…video steps from 0:50-1:14 & 1:30-2:00. In the 1st step, the two torx screws don’t need to be removed from the air filter housing round tube. The electrical connector has a red tab underneath which pulls out. Press a disconnect lever underneath this connector which allows it to be pulled loose. In the 2nd step, just use a flat blade screwdriver and loosen the large c-clamp which connects the top of the air filter housing and then it can be removed from the rubber air inlet. I replaced my fan assembly on a 2013 Ford Edge SEL which was purchased from NAPA Auto Parts for $220.72 (tax & a 20% discount). Any Ford dealer would charge in the neighborhood of $850-950 for this repair!

His was a very useful video. It does sort of skip some of the frustrations. Prepare patience for the bolt beneath the radiator hose. Removal was a nuisance, and install did not slide right in as is shown here. Still a very good video and it made the job go much smoother than expected.

Is Ford edge 2014 fan is a common failure mine failed last month after 10 years.

Exactly my issue. Just ordered one off Amazon for $155 coming today. Ford was going to sell it for almost $500 not including installation.

So I had done this job once before fine no problem, fan went out in a month. The second time I did it, I rushed and wasn’t paying attention. I accidentally put the bolts that hold the air box, in place of the bolts that hold the fan up. Some how the left bolt punched a hole in the radiator? So I just left that one in, no leaks no problem. Is there any way to fix that hole or I need a whole new radiator? 😭😭😭 btw it’s been like that for over almost a year, still no leaks but I know the hole is there you know?
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC2 жыл бұрын
You will have to replace the radiator at some point. I made that mistake once also. To everyone else, keep track of the screws and put them back exactly in the same spot.

Is it worth it to jack it up and pull it out from the bottom to lessen the fight of getting in and out?
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC3 жыл бұрын
Take your time and it should come out of the top okay. Unless you have a garage grade lift with the vehicle secured, I Don’t suggest jacking it up.

can the fan control module just be replaced instead of the whole fan?
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC3 жыл бұрын
The fan control module can be replaced. However, most new replacement fan assemblies are about the same price as the control unit. In my opinion, the best thing to do is replace the entire fan assembly. It’s up to you to decide.

How often is this done? I replaced mine about 2-3 years ago and now I am having the same problem again.
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC3 жыл бұрын
An aftermarket replacement may not last as long as an OEM part. There could be another underlying electrical problem that is making the fans malfunction.

What’s the typical cost on having this done?
@MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC4 жыл бұрын
Depends on your mechanic, but anywhere from $300 to $450.The fan itself costs $120. Check eBay or Amazon for a replacement fan.
@ericgaleas77523 жыл бұрын
Took our car to pep boys and they said the part cost 350 and the labor is 215. I told them to find a cheaper part online. The rep said I can bring in my own part and they will just charge labor..... I'm waiting to hear back from them, but I'm thinking I might just do it myself. What a freaking rip off
