It's easy to use wooden cribbing and junk rims (I gave my jack stands away long ago) placed aft of the front wheel arch to R&I parts in that area. I've done plenty of similar steering work and engine swaps in my gravel driveway (I collect large cardboard boxes to lie on or use the bottom of an insert-style bed liner I harvest for that stuff, ideal since dirt falls into the grooves).
