Thanks for sharing, I've recently gotten back into canning and both my large burner plugs disintegrated into ash from the weight and heat of the burner. I can now go get new plugs and fix my stove.

Just had the same issue. The burner and receptacle both gave up the ghost at the same time. I’ll be using my fish cooker for canning from now on. 😂

Before you said a sheet metal screw and a wash I was thinking tack a small of weld on low to build it back up.

Used this video to fix my stove that a burner popped while I was cooking and the receptacle had a flame coming from it. Took about $70 and 20 minutes but I saved myself at least $180 in the repair man costs. Thank you so much.

I have a possible bad receptacle but i want to make sure so it's not the the switch so I'm swapping it with another burners. Your shot of the back helps and will make it easier for me to just unplug and test. Then ill buy one online once in sure. Thanks again!!

I've looked all over the place for those 'clips' that go on chrome drip pans (aka: drip bowls) to hold the element in the drip pan's notch. Tried to buy drip pans (via Amazon) with those clips but was lied to and ended up with drip pans without the clips. If the only way I can get those clips is to buy drip pans that have them, I will. Any help you can offer to point me in the right direction will be appreciated. Thank you.

I can't get my stop top to lift up, is there a remedy for it?
@TheOriginalMechanic2 жыл бұрын
All I would do is use a prying tool or large flat screwdriver to break the top free. It likely just rusted or stuck.

Is there a specific Hotpoint receptacle so you wouldn't need to tape the wires together?
@TheOriginalMechanic7 жыл бұрын
Probably, but it might be hard to find in the correct length and with the right connectors. Good luck with it.

How do you open the stove top of a hotpoint?? It's making me crazy. Thanks.
@TheOriginalMechanic3 жыл бұрын
On mine you lift the top from the front. Then use the prop rods inside to hold it up.

@@TheOriginalMechanic I'm sorry for my delayed response, I never saw yours! Idk about my range but I can NOT open the stove top! Am I to remove each burner? I don't see screws I'm supposed to remove. It's got me bummed and frustrated and thoroughly grossed out. Anyways, thanks for this video (and your page)! Your approach is great.

@@rainbowsandkittens1537 IDK, unless the top is rusted or just thoroughly stuck on.

I have the same problem fixing an old HotPoint (Model RB525*F1 circa 1973). I've just started but I'm pretty sure that mine does NOT lift up like a car hood! It appears so far that it was designed so that each burner can be tilted up to remove the surround and pan, then remove the element with cable/harness attached. To remove the whole top it appears to be a whole procedure to disconnect the top from the back, including removing the knobs and all of that. Unable to find a clear explosion diagram for this particular model series, but I will persevere ... Frustrating indeed!
