Thanks for the video, i'm driving 2011 VW TDI wagon 6spd at 77K miles. My clutch pedal did go back after i take off my foot. I have to call a tow truck to tow it home. I'll try to bleed the clutch and see if it is the case. Else I'll have to take it to the shop to replace TO bearing and probably whole clutch assembly since they already dropped the tranny. Once again thanks for the video.

Now this is some seriously detailed awesome video my dear friend. Accept my regards from India. Well, I am having 2006 skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi diesel alh 5 speed manual car with just 100k on odometer. Issue is in the morning cold start, there is little grinding noise from gearbox side ,not typical loud rattle. It sometimes comes,sometimes not. When I press the clutch ,there is little noise which goes wheni release the clutch. Clutch is normal soft, gear engagement normal. Should I need to replace flywheel, clutch plt pressure plt and the release bearing? And if I have to replace it, which brand it should be Luk or sachs? Should I replace what grade of manual gearbox oil also? That you bro very much.

1.9TDI Love it sounds like your throw out bearing is going bad, you have to take it apart to know what brand it takes, it's gonna be either LUK or Sachs!

Transmission is out. Most difficult part was removing it from the motor. We almost removed the lower a arm on the driver side, but we got it. After removing it we noticed that the clutch, flywheel, and slave are all Luk brand parts. Does that mean that they have already been replaced, because they would be OEM if they were original, correct? The car has about 80 k on it. We bought it with 60k on it from a dealer after just having the emissions recall work completed on it. The reason for the work that we are doing was a failed slave cylinder, brake fluid leaking from the bell housing being our main indicator. Before we replace the flywheel, clutch assembly, and slave with another Luk, we wanted to make sure that there isn't anything else that you would recommend doing, knowing possibly that they may have already been replaced and possibly failed for a second time. We were not planning on replacing the master cylinder. We were considering trying to remove as much of the old brake fluid as possible. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Annie Socci The LUK Clutch assembly is the original one, I recommend getting a new Luk clutch assembly from the VW Dealer and the flywheel and the slave cylinder, you don't have to replace the clutch master cylinder! always use OEM parts on VW, it will save you time and Money!! Good Luck with your project! Make sure you tell the guy at the parts counter at the Dealer that your VW has a LUK Clutch because that same model has 2 types of clutches!!

We noticed that the throwout bearing slave cylinder replacement that we bought is the same as the original except for a plastic interface that would have made contact with the pressure plate on the original is not present on the replacement (the replacement lacks this piece and is just a metal surface). Can this plastic piece be omitted? We probably know the answer.

I am attempting to replicate this same job on a 2012 jetta 2.5 SE and have 5 speed and i have all the bolts and bracket loose but the transmission will not separate ,I can see the flywheel but i cant get it off the shaft any suggentions?

How did you stop the flywheel turning when you took the old bolts out? I have tried everything I can think of apart from buying a special tool.....issue is, my transmission is out of the car lol

PistnBroke screw one transmission bolt back on the block and then put a big flat screwdriver between the flywheel and the bolt to hold the flywheel stationary!

My 2013 jetta tdi wagon had a floppy clutch pedal when I went to start it recently. My husband identified fluid dripping from the bell housing. That combined with some research lead us to think that the problem is the slave cylinder. While we are working on this we figured we should probably replace the clutch and dual mass flywheel while we have the transmission removed so that ideally we do not have to access these parts again. Do you agree? The clutch and flywheel are currently functioning properly, but we would replace preventatively. We would get the clutch assembly from Luk which includes the slave cylinder. I have seen multiple conversion kits available to go from a dual mass to a single. Your advice here would be appreciated. We are not sure if converting to a single is advantageous or not. Also, what brand of flywheel to buy if we convert to a single or not? The two part videos that you have shared here are very well done. My husband and I think that we can do this job on our car because of how detailed and thorough your videos are on the process of completing this job. Thank you for sharing this information.

Annie Socci I'm glad to hear that the video is helpful! replacing the flywheel and the clutch assembly is a good idea, even if the clutch is not bad! since your slave cylinder is leaking, I recommend replacing the flywheel and clutch assembly, since you are there you might as well replace it! it will save you time and money in the future... Now when it comes to replacing the dual mass flywheel with a single flywheel, I recommend keeping the dual mass flywheel because of the smooth shifting, which I prefer! but when you replace it with a single flywheel, shifting gears will no longer be as smooth as it used to be.

@@elijajacobs021 oh okay, i’m about to change my flywheel as well and i’m very hesitant. I’m not sure if I should stay with the Dual Mass Flywheel ( It comes with a Dual Mass from factory ) or if I should go for a Single Mass Flywheel. The dual mass is way more expensive than the single, but I think the single mass doesn’t absorb vibration as good as a dual. Idk what to do 😂

Heck of a location for the Crankshaft Position Sensor. That warped flywheel must have made a lot of noise.
