Is this Fiberglass screen? If yes, is it safe to use? I was gonna order some mesh heads but I love DIY stuff too. I really wanna try this first.

Yes, This is a heavy duty fiberglass screen that you would use to repair a screen door. You can find these at a local home improvement store. If you use the heavy duty screen, I think you could get away with a single layer. I tried putting tape on top but it makes a slapping noise. So, next time I need to replace the heads, I'm going single layer and trying a bass drum vinyl pad. Good Luck!

Use nylon tip. sticks and your heads will last longer.
