Just wanted to give an alternate method. Instead of removing lower control arm ball joint (hard to get on that nut especially to torque it) it's easier to remove both strut mounting bolts. If your wheel is already fully suspended there won't be any tension from the coil or strut. It's much easier to remove and replace those bolts. The hub assembly will pull forward enough to remove the axle shaft just the same.
@SalemDoyle2 жыл бұрын
I have done it that way also, it works, i just prefure this way
@B6jfkmx2 жыл бұрын
If I’m not mistaken this alternate method requires an alignment… or do both methods require an alignment?
@durchh7 Жыл бұрын
@@B6jfkmx It's recommended to perform an alignment after any steering or suspension work
@jeanpierreremond2565 Жыл бұрын
The alternative method will work as well, but it requires alignment after the job is done. NOTE: Both methods are perfectly fine if you decide to go for the alternative method you can skip the alignment if you have everything marked and each compartment exactly as it was before starting to take apart those caster bolts

Can a worn CV shaft make the wheel squeal? I'm getting mine done next week on a 2004 grand Prix
@whatluck15082 ай бұрын
Is it possible for a CV joint to sound like its grinding when reversing only or does that sound more like strut noise(my front struts was replaced roughly 15k miles ago, but the dust shield for both front ones are shredded). The grinding sound only happens in reverse when there seems to be more load on the front suspension. Has new control arms(with new ball joints), tie rods(inner and outer), and sway bar links on the front. The struts I got to replace the original was the Monroe quick-strut, from the research i have done, pointed to Monroe being the better choice between them KYB and FCS. I'm mainly trying to get other opinions as to what it can be, I had also thought about it being the wheel bearings as well, but there is no vertical play, just a little bit of horizontal play(of which im going to get a alignment here soon to try to correct since i had camber bolts installed) Forgot to mention, that there is no vibration when accelerating, no popping when turning either, there is however a very slight occasional pop when accelerating and letting off. Transmission was rebuilt 20k miles ago, shifting perfectly fine and accelerates perfectly fine as well.

Hey Doyle, i know this may be an older video but i was needing to replace a CV and seen your video. But i was needing a little help if you dont mind. When replacing the driver side i was going to order a Cv but i kind of got confused, because when i was fixing to complete the order i thought which would the driver side be considered? The left or the right? I am asking this question because i dont not want to make a simple mistake. Because when looking at the part fixing to be ordered it will say left cv or right cv and that kind of threw me off a little bit because i didn't know if it was counting from the driver view like inside of the car or outside (like from the driver seat side it would be the left cv ) or counting from the view as if looking down at the motor wise (like if looking down at the motor the driver side would be considered to be on the right cv ) please help

@@SalemDoyle I'm at a lost I had changed my vavle cover gaskets, timing cover gasket, water pump and coolant temperature sensor and all of a sudden when I started my car the oil was milky. I I also had replaced the radiator, radiator fan and heater core, but before I had replaced that the engine oil wasn't milky at all so I'm at a lost. I know it wasn't the head gasket cause just last week when I replaced the oil and the oil filter everything was a ok when I started the car and ran the car. Actually the the vavle cover gasket was the last thing I replaced then all of a sudden the oil was milky. Do you have any guesses for me.

Usually that is caused by lower intake leaks
