Great video. So many people don't understand the art of keeping beaters on the road for people. Keeping them safe but not having the customer chuck unnecessary cash at it definitely an art.

I know the non-ABS hub assemblies for these cars are actually more expensive than the ABS hubs. I feel that the ABS hubs are more readily available too. Easy to just cut the 2 wires and cheaper so why not. Good video!
@ValleyCityAutoYT
@ValleyCityAutoYT 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember off the top my head, but I believe these were the same price for both assemblies and they had both in stock.
@conradrothenburger6519
@conradrothenburger6519 2 жыл бұрын
The price difference isn't huge but you think there is more materials in making the ABS hub that it would be the more expensive one. Must be a supply and demand thing.

Thanks for the video... I had to find something where I could see into someone else's wheel well... I recently started hearing a more intense 'bump' when I go over bumps... I looked in the front wheel well, and I though my shock tower was low.. causing the tire to rub, but it seems like it's low on all cars... maybe I just need to just change out the shocks.

great vid thanks just curious did you really do the entire thing using a torque wrench once or did i miss something? Pretty cool to see how simple you made that when i would of been doing that in my driveway for 2 days ha.
@LUCAMTire
@LUCAMTire 2 жыл бұрын
for your brake dust shield that goes between the bearing and your spindle face, you got to be careful as the rotor will be that thickness recessed farther in towards the brake caliper bracket. Off centered. I have had rotors rub on the caliper bracket by leaving the dust shield off.

@ValleyCityAutoYT
@ValleyCityAutoYT 2 жыл бұрын
It’s all aftermarket garbage out of the same bullshit manufacturing plant sold at all parts stores (Dorman mostly). When you do this every day you learn quickly what to use aftermarket and what to use OEM. I use Auto Value specifically for their Mevotech suspension line (best suspension parts I’ve used) and Timken wheel bearings. That is why I do most of my business with Factory Motor Parts because I can get many things OEM for GM and Ford.

Good lord 😳 go in have wheel bearings. Dude just cost the guy a 4 wheel alignment. Air impact every bolt. Skip the shield that's important. That's how you screw the customer. You'd be fired from my shops. One master hacker
@Willyd2758
@Willyd2758 Жыл бұрын
What’s “go in have wheel bearings” mean? Air impact every bolt? There’s nothing wrong with that that I can see. They’re tight aren’t they? Also, how is he going to cost him a 4 wheel alignment when he put the struts back where they belong? (On the front of the car) “You didn’t put the shield back” its a dust shield. If your really that concerned on a beater about a brake dust shield, your more than likely trying to sell the customer some other part they don’t need. Also, if you watched the video, the drivers side dust shield was cut off. I’m sure you didn’t watch that. Remember, this is a beater car.
@austinbailey2121

Ive done the wheel bearings on this car on my own without a impact wrench. As long as you don't fuck with the tie rod you won't need a wheel alignment.

@@Willyd2758 Strut bolts should have never been touched. Yes, the camber "should" be ok going back together, but it is possible it is now off. Guy put everything back together with an impact. I personally would snug everything up, then go back with a ratchet or wrench for final tightening. Impact and send it🤣. That bearing has been off before, its a 15-20 minute job, even tightening everything on final by hand.

And now this wheel bearing will fail prematurely because you hammered the axle nut on with the impact wrench instead of torqueing it to spec with a torque wrench.
