Great video, gave me the confidence I needed to tackle this project. Cost me $147 in a replacement spring kit and took us about a hour to do the work. I counted the number of turns to remove the one spring that did not break, and it was 27. We 1st tried 29 turns but got an excessive effort alarm when trying to close the garage with the opener. We backed off 2 turns to 27 and everything works great. Thanks again Alex for this tutorial 🤙🏽

Great video. Thank you! I'm going to try this on my own now. I'll report back if I'm still alive.

Ha ha. Just remember to have your head away from the wrenches. Let me know how it goes.

@alexthehandyman3494 Changed both springs successfully. The last few rotations were scary, otherwise it was an easy job. Thank you very much.

There are many items in our homes that don't require a professional. Garage door springs can be deadly if you don't know what you're doing. I had mine replaced by a "professional" who also worked as a Chicago Fire Fighter. It worked ok but broke about 2 years later. I then called a real professional who told me that the reason the first replacement didn't last was that spring wasn't strong enough for my door. He showed me the difference too. It's now been about 9 years and it's still working great! 🪵🫵🫵
