How To Replace a Kickstart Seal on a Dirt Bike

Hi Great video, I have a 2005 exc 525 which was leaking a little oil from this seal so I replaced it, but it's still leaking even with the new seal. I didn't have any issues swapping it out, the new one seemed to install just fine so not sure why it's still leaking. Anything that you can think of that I should try differently if I go ahead and buy another new one? some sort of extra sealant perhaps? thanks in advance!

I have a 2013 KTM 250 xc, do I need to split the cases to replace the return spring for the Kickstarter? My friends keep telling me I have to?

*Alex Foster* - No you do not need to split the crankcases. You will just need to remove the Right crankcase cover to access the kickstarter mechanism. Thanks

I am trying to replace my kick starter seal on my 2008 ktm xcr-w 450 but I can’t find a part number anywhere. Even the parts diagram for the Kickstarter excludes this seal. Is it the same part number as the countershaft seal?

You should have put only on KTM as this does not work on a YZ 250, and now have to get a whole new case thanks👍

Don't need a seal now-a-days after the cheap asses discontinued the kick start.
