I would use a 5/16 nut driver and impact u have the ability to strip or snap bolt off.

Let's not forget about the pesky little spring washer that may or may not be in the replacement stator or stuck in the old one, lol. And yes, bowling pins make excellent mallets for banging on stuff...also good for neck support when you're laying on the deck under a machine. 🤣
