Just replaced my sink top as well as I had put a heavy glass near the sink and the first time it fell into the sink it cracked it. Patching it does look horrible. Thanks for this video, I did it way easier the second time after watching this. I also changed out my two shut offs as I prefer the ball valves and everything looks shiny and new. I built my own escutcheon out of wood to match the bathroom accessories.

I watched this video then went to remove the pedestal sink in my bathroom. It wasn't even close to this experience. I couldn't reach most of the nuts/screws/pipes, and finally ended up beating it to death with a pipe wrench. That is when I found the bowl was stuck to the pedestal with huge amounts of caulk, stuck to the wall the same way, and had additional brackets securing it to the wall. I'm now down to the very bottom of the base and it's still somehow stuck to the subfloor. Going after that with my air hammer next.

i actually was hoping to see how or which tool did you use to tighten the nuts that attach the faucet to the sink.. i just did a similar sink today but with a single hole faucet and man it was a pain to get to those nuts!! since everything was crammed in one hole the hoses where kind of in the way for me to use EVEN a very thin socket, never mind my basin wrench. Lol i ended up using needle nose pliers for that! haha...
@sharonshookup4 жыл бұрын
I just did the same thing. The new faucet came with a double ended long hollow socket wrench (plastic) almost a foot long. It allows one to go straight up and right over the long bolt and screw the nut under the sink. I'm keepin' that tool !!

Hi... beginner DIYer here. What is the dough like compound you wrap around the faucet neck/pipe before inserting them into the pedestal? Is it some kind of caulking? Is this recommended for all faucet installation? Thanks!
@gilbertcarrizales75923 жыл бұрын
Plumbers Putty...it’s a caulking and sealing compound that you can find at most big box home improvement stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot. Without it, any water that pools around the base of the faucet will drip underneath the cabinet.

This will only work if size, holes, etc are all same. Most have sheetrock on studs and holes for sink do not line up with studs, so what does one do. Same with pedestal, many want you to drill hole at bottom to screwito floor. Well floor already has flooring, hardwood, tile, concrete foundation, which one does not want toput hole into. Builder, Del Webb, did not secure Pedestal, no wood block to put lag into, they usd the old molly screw into a spring loaded unit that spreads once you put through larger hole. Builder on plumbing to reach wall pipe just put larger up from pee trap and slid tailpipe into larger pipe unsecured wit a nut. Anyone know if mollys are ok to use and what size. Maybe use adhesive caulk on pedestal to keep in place when it dries? Avoid drilling holes in tile and tearing walls apart to cut into studs to place 2x6” board for lags holding sink

@patrickmoan67094 жыл бұрын
The video completely ignores or blows past what's required for the so called "lag connections". We have 2 bolts coming out of the wall at a distance of 19". We assume that a replacement sink will not have holes that are spaced exactly the same and that we'll need to drill and have new bolts go in versus what the plumber did originally (to make the bolts stick out of the wall). I'm agog that the video simply ignores any complexity around this. This is in no way a useful video.

this is unreal! first the PVC P-trap will outlast that metal 10x. second, the lag bolts have to be marked (dry fit) and a pilot whole drilled before the drain is attached! ( the sink should be leveled side to side at this point) you will NOT get them in if you don't! adhesive caulk should also be used to secure the sink to the base and wall. (they almost never fit right) it should be called "this old moron"
