I have some problems with this plug end: 1. it is open at one end, hence water can get in case, 2. there is no strain relief.

It’s not a grounded outlet so it is really not intended for wet environments. Hope that helps. Thx for watching.

Arnt you suppose to tighten down the green ground plug to avoid any possibility of anything happening? I’ve read that in several books and videos. I just want your explanation to it so I can make my judgement call. Thanx for your cooperation! Have a great rest of your day and weekend and I’m ready for spring already!! Lol! Bye

Should use correct size to ensure wire jacket is gripped by the new plug body so that all the strain is not directly pulling on the copper wire terminals.

I don't now about the US but Australian and the UK plugs come with the instruction that specifies the exact length of which wire to strip off to get the job done properly. Initially I disregarded the instruction and always had some hassle to fit wires nicely till it was explained to me by a qualified person. So I've been paying attention to the instructions since then.

If I'd forgotten to slide the cover over the wire before linking to the screws there would have been a certain amount of swearing involving the f-word

I think DIYers get ahead of themselves, me included, often because we want the project over before it starts. 🍻

Step 1: Press those wire strippers against a grinding wheel until you have nothing left... Step 2: Get a set of real wire strippers and a diagonal cutter Step 3: Get some tubing that fills the gap between the cord and plug that will act as a strain relief.

Thumbs down 👎💀💀💀Never do any electrical work unless you are qualified or have a good understanding of what you are doing. There is no way in the world I would recommend this person for doing electrical work on anything ! He didn't use a Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Knot the plug is too big for the job. The plug is the wrong type of plug to use for the job. The plug is the wrong size for the job. You can't use just any old plug you find around the house. Using the wrong plug will lead people into a false sense of security. They will see the ground wire and think that it is grounded. People will also grab the wire and yank it out by the wire instead of pulling the plug. Please people! Do not use this person's advice!
