Great videos! I bought a cheap 2004 Mazda 3 hatchback and have ended up replacing the entire rear suspension, patching up a ton of rust and holes under the side panels (por 15 and fiberglass), did the engine mounts, and now need the belt. I have watched a ton of your videos and just wanted to say THANK YOU as you and a few other Mazda 3 owners have given me the confidence to tackle a lot of this work myself instead of heading to a mechanic. I am by no means rich, or well to do, so saving literally thousands of dollars in labor costs trying to fix a "cheap" car that ive now spent more on parts than the car itself has been great. You really break things down and cover it all and give very descriptive instructions. Thanks again for all the great mazda 3 videos!

I'm fairly good at many kinds of DIY - light building, decorating, electronics, computers, but car repairs is my Achilles' heel. I dread even a thought of popping up the hood! I've spent quite a lot on DPF and other post-warranty repairs recently at Mazda, but, when my belt snapped the other day on my 5 year old Mazda 6, I said: enough is enough - not paying anyone a penny more! Got the belt, watched few videos on YT and started taking the car apart. Got to the bit where I had to put the belt on, but none of the other videos showed exactly how to loosen the tensioner. Tried few things and was even about to unscrew the tensioner. Since the access was very poor and I lacked a proper spanner to do it (lucky there!), I was just about to give up and call a mechanic out, but then I found this video. If I could reach through the net, I could kiss you!!! I was so chuffed that I actually managed to bloody do it! Seems easy now, and a lot of you will say that it really is, but for a guy with a car repairs phobia, this was a big deal! Thank you so much for uploading this! Saved few quid and learnt something new. Thanks again!

Great video - EXACTLY what I needed to get me through changing the Serpentine belt on our 2011 Mazda3 5-door. THANK YOU. For the Tensioner, I used a Gear Wrench Serpentine Belt Tool. Wow, that made ALL the difference! A second pair of hands (from above) really helped too!

I just did this on my Ford Focus. It is basically the same. I had to replace the tension pulley as it had disintegrated. None of the videos I watched pointed out that the pulley housing has a place to put a wrench to move it, you don't put a wrench on the pulley itself. Otherwise, this was a clear, concise video, well done.

I love to watch you working on cars. You make jobs seem so easy. You should never trust trolley jacks alone. We always use axle stands as well. We are working on old classic Humber Super Snipe series IV (1963) getting harder all the while to find parts for these type cars. What an amazing diagram what a job you have had to do. It is simpler on our car to change fan belt and put new one. How did you get to becoming such good mechanic did you work with your dad? As it is usually men that go for this type work. Hello Ally, great video, love your content. I have question for you and maybe you could help with this. I have a Mazda Tribute 2008 4 cyl. I lost the serpentine and noticed that the top pulley was loose, so I removed it and say that the washer behind it was damaged (it's for the power steering pulley) according to a diagram I found online. Pulley looks good. Would you know where to get that washer part without having to change all the pulleys? Many thanks, John

Only thing I could add is to make sure to make a clear mental note of the belt routing around each accessory and pulley before you remove it. It'll save you the "Wait a minute, which way did it go?" headache when reinstalling. Sometimes a picture in a manual or under the hood doesn't quite make as much sense as a burnt in image of the belt routing.

Good video, two comments. Before you install the new belt you might want to check it by holding the old belt next to it, just to make sure it's the right one. They should be the same length, perhaps the new belt will be just a bit shorter. I'd run the engine briefly before reinstalling all those splash guards, just to make sure everything is tracking OK. Again, good video, thanks for uploading.
