Are those little springs all that holds up the window?

MY older Swissco windows don't have a cut out and the vinyl window channel spreaders are really expensive (for a one time job), my question is if i make my own cut-out should it be just below the top window like it appears in the video. My coil spring band broke at the brake assy.

So if that partthat you put the screw driver in and turned. Is that part of the spring piece? Because thats what came down on my window

You do if there’s no cut out for that

you can use a dremel with the cut-off wheel on it to make your own just below the upper window. They also sell a set of Vinyl Window Spreaders (165.00!). I chose to make my own cut out and that worked great.
