Just completed this without removing anything from the engine bay except the battery terminals. Will come out from bottom. Took 45 minutes. I dropped shock for hand clearance. I removed ground to frame and a few rosebuds for some cabling. I pulled the a/c line towards wheel and it came out.

Me too. A lot of extra work here. Like when I was just starting to work on vehicles at 16. Now I am 66 and don't take apart anything more than I need to. He will have fun putting that intake back on. LOL

Top starter bolt CAN be accessed from bottom through wheel well. Starter will be removed out through wheel well above frame rail.. Use two 3" extensions with a deep socket 15mm for top bolt. Remove the one 10mm bolt holding the oil dip stick on intake manifold, completely remove oil dip stick from oil pan, quickly unclamp the three fuel line brackets, and starter will come out. 😀

I did mine from the wheel well, Took some turning of the starter and bringing it forward to drop it out and get it back in but was alot easier than taking the intake off. He did this the right way but also the most time consuming hardest way. These fellas get paid labor by time, I would think they would want to do it the fastest way possible. This is a 3 Hr job if your in no great hurry from the wheel well.

I believe the head cover gasket is leaking on my h3, a mechanic asked that I get it checked out, cuz I have an oil leak that I cannot locate. He feels it's this gasket cuz it's coming from too high on the motor? What's your advice?

Great video, I think that’s what’s wrong with my 2007 H3 my issue sounds like this my battery is fully charged, I checked my Checked my relays and they seam to be ok but when I try to start the hummer all I get is a tick sound I did get my hummer started went for a drive came back to my house turned the hummer off then tried to restart it and nothing happened. Can you give me your feedback on this thanks.

If it's the original starter that makes the starter motor 11 years old I don't doubt its probably going out.

You can change in 2 hours without removing intake manifold. Removal of dipstick tube is necessary.

Hi Bryan, I completed this job myself and after everything was put back together I’m getting a sort of a squeal sound coming from the intake/throttle body area. It almost sounds like a belt, but there isn’t one in that area. It only does this when I’m accelerating or the engine is between 2k and 5k rpms. I’m thinking it may be either a loose manifold or gasket is bad. Any thoughts?

600 to 700 just to put a starter in gm should be shot for that kind of engineering design flaw.you gotta know at some point the starter will go bad.should have easy access to it as well as alternator water pump fuel pump things that you know fail often
