This appears to be a simple and straight forward procedure, but don't be lulled or tempted into skipping through the video.

Really do appreciate that you spoke slowly/clearly and you moved slowly .....many people don’t do that. I was just disappointed that I had already bought a 1632 battery and when I opened my fob for my 2017 Toyota Corolla SE much to my disgust there was a 2032 battery in it so I will keep it open and go back to get the 2032 thank you though.👍

Thank you! I couldn’t figure out how to open the fob, but your video solved that. I did need my son to actually pry it I open as it took more strength than I had in my hands, but battery is now replaced 😊

Glad it helped! I too find it hard to believe that I once had hands so steady and eye so clear i could dismantle and fix old jewelled wrist and pocket watches. My local car accessories shop advised us not to even try to change the battery ourselves. They changed my wife's and, of course supplied a new cr2032. As I have a few new Duracell crf2032, I will now give it a go. Thanks for the lesson.....fingers crossed 😀

The battery in any unit can often be replaced by a replacement of the same number, of course garages want to charge you a huge amount for one of their standard batteries, which they like you to think are special. Thank you. Battery was that low on my corolla to the point that I had to remove key from fob and use it to unlock door and put fob on top of start button. Called the store before leaving to make sure they had the right battery too lol.

These car fobs drive me up the frickin' wall! Thank you for the vid, which in theory works lovely. However, I have a very similar one and when I opened it, it all came flying out and landed on the floor. I have put it back together and nothing seems broken, but there's no way I can get it to all click back together again. I cannot believe we send people into space and we can't get a better, more simple way of changing a battery than all this faffing about. Frustrated person who does NOT have a spare key lol!

if you haven't sorted it out lay all the bits on a white sheet of paper and lable each part A, B, C etc and take a photograph then turn them all over and take another photograph next to the lable. (make sure you don't do it too close or they will be out of focus) then email me the fixtures and I'll see if I can fathom it out, I like doing puzzles its part of fixing things. Regards Malcolm

I saw a different video that specifically says keep key push tabs facing DOWN (Logo side facing up) so nothing flies out when opening. Was for 2018 Toyota. Hope this helps for next time.

Great to know, I recent did mine again but made the mistake of changing two keys at the same time. How often do you need to replace your batteries? Both mine have the warning on the car saying key fob battery running low and I wasn't sure if that is a warning which just comes on if more than 50% of the battery is used Or if it's at a critical level meaning it needs urgent changing

Its funny you should say this, since our last service last year I'm sure the keys aren't lasting the long and when I test the Batteries they appear okay so I wonder if its a software issue. i used the key to open the tiny slot 1st then pryed it carefully open on my 2013 yaris as my key was nearly flat ik kinda how it works as i replaced a battery on my previous cars keyfob(not a toyota) but simular way

I had hybrid system malfunction warning and dealer told me to change keyless fob battery first and then report if warning doesn’t go away. I fail to see the connection in that.

I have an Auris and stupidly changed the batteries on both keys at my wife's insistence. Then neither key worked. It took me a lot of messing about to get the keys to sync. I'm going to do a new video in a few weeks about it, when I don't urgently need to use the car, and figure out exactly how to re-sync the keys first time. #2032 is the battery number used in California Toyota and Honda key Fobs. Found them in our 2007 Honda CR-V Fobs and 2017 Toyota Camry Smart Key Fobs.

How does the computer in my Toyota Auris know that the key fob battery is getting flat ?

Two possibilities I think, one the key processor can monitor the battery and passes it on in its bitstream or the car monitors the strength of the signal from the key fob and when it gets below a certain level it informs the driver to change the battery.
