TRQ's automotive instructional videos are consistently among the best, if not the actual best, ones here on KZbin - great camera work and video production, and clear and concise commentary. I appreciate that. None of that self-indulgent BS and yapping heard on the shade tree amateur ones and even a lot of the "professional" ones. One point on this video though - at 9:51, the edge of the belt right on the alternator pulley looks like it's missing a bit. I would be worried that that belt will start deteriorating more now that the edge is starting to go. Like I saw somewhere on an online Lexus owners forum, one wise owner said he replaces the belts when swapping out the driven components and if the original belts are still "good," he stashes them in his trunk with his emergency parts-and-basic-tools in case he has a broken belt somewhere out on the road. At least, he can put the old belt back on and hopefully get home or to a repair shop.

Great video!!! With your help I swapped my alternator in a little over an hour. Would’ve been a LOT quicker if I had those cool motorized sockets you have. You just dig right in and provide perfect instructions! Cheers!

You clearly gave wrong instructions and erred on saying the position of the block for the lower bolt. First you said to make sure that the bolt to the alternator goes through the hole above the adjuster bolt and it’s hole. When you actually finished bolting it in place, you said the opposite, with that bolt going through the block hole when below the adjuster. I watched you 5 times to make sure of what you said and did. Please do this one over and do it right.

I got a better option for the bolt that goes into the alternator and the other one slides down and goes along the little metal block. I would say you can bring up the alternator and you’ll see it standing up. You put a crowbar there to hold it and then take outthe long screw and just use the screw that goes into the alternator with the little block because you can see it you put that in and then you put the long screw in a lot easier no offense than the way that you recommended. Nice. The inly thing is I'm going to try to remember to change over the wiring bracket while i have the alternator out. I'm clumsy and don't want to have to go searching for that 8 mm nut after i drop it.

It’s so freaking hard to put the bottom adjustment bolt back in the alternator bracket.. 40 minutes of straggling already. But it is also a bit of masochistic pleasure.. just kidding. I hate the effin 12 mm bolt…..
