Hi thank you. My problem is getting off the bolts. Probably need a better drill mine broke. I sprayed some bllaster on them. Im not sure what to do now..I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP! I CAN DO THIS.! I dont have the muscles to get it off without my drill. Im broke and i can afford the alternator. If i can't do it myself, well my Lexi will just have to sit until i come up with 5 bones or more. Im just venting. Thanks again..i put in my own starter thanks to people like you. These 3 bolts are making it really hard.

On the 98-00 you have to take off the ps pully, there is a threaded hole on the pump, screw a bolt in it and use that to keep the pully from moving when you try to remove the pully

You should've disconnected the battery cables or just the negative (-_) from the terminals before doing anything else.

You don’t have to take off the radiator hose. Take off the high side AC bracket and move it over.
@bearing_aficionado4 жыл бұрын
I just changed mine last night and didn't take off the hose. Just like you said, just take the high side bracket off and moved it over.

Can anyone explain how to bet the bottom bolt back into alternator when putting it back in? It has been become overbearingly tedious to try to hold the alternator up while taking the bolt to fine the thread hole without being able to see it in a very tight space. I'm trying to avoid taking the entire radiator out for one bolt if their is a trick to how to put it back in I need it fast, anybody's help would be greatly appreciated on this one even if it's from my own worst enemy if you got the solution please send it immediately 🤔😨😫🙏🙏💓

Sorry to see that nobody replied to you, did you find out how to do it? If so please share with me because I'm about to change my alternator
@jjsquire7063 жыл бұрын
@@joeywever9194 It was the most tedious job I've ever had to do. I wasn't successful in getting the bolt back in the traditional way it came out. It's just nearly impossible without having some kind of special torque wrench to apply enough pressure on the bolt to make the reconnection because you can't visibly see what you're doing. Luckily I found an alternate trick that will save you valuable time and hours of frustration. Instead of trying to put the length tensioner bolt back in the same way it came out I ended up going to Lowes hardware and simply bought a similar bolt a little bit longer and a little bit smaller and I decided to put the new bolt back in from the opposite direction and simply use a washer and lock nut to keep it in place. It was so much easier to do it that way and it works just fine. If you have trouble trying to get it back in the traditional way then try putting the new bolt in the opposite way it truly worked out for me. Let me know how things go and hope this helps 👍😎👌

@@joeywever9194 You need to do it from underneath. I did this yesterday. Take off the splash shields. To hold the alternator in place I used a bungee or rope and attach it up top. There is a place on the fire wall perfect to tie to. Then I got underneath and did it by feel. Wasn't bad at all once I got the alternator suppported.
@johnlibonati7807 Жыл бұрын
@@trisk_7398 I put it in from underneath too. First, I had to take out the alternator and tap the threads again because I cross threaded it the first time I tried. Then, my tension bolt and block were all rusted and didn’t turn easily. What a pain. An hour job turned into forever.

@@johnlibonati7807 Yeah, that stinks. I broke a bolt on a transmission solenoid once. About stroked out, but it ended up not being too bad.
