Hey, your video HELPED me so MUCH . I have a Nissan Armada 2007 I did everything you said , but I did take off the tire that helped me with more room to work .and it only took me two hours. This was my first time taking off an alternator and installing a new one thank you so much. You saved me a lot of money.

I found this video because I had to replace the alternator on my wife's 2008 QX56 this weekend, and it helped a lot. Thanks. But that's not what I'm commenting about. You mean to tell me there is actually a KZbin car channel run by a Pontiac fan - my favorite marque, see my profile pic for an immediate explanation why - where a great deal of the content is about a 1967 Firebird, and the rest is maintenance and repair and modification tips about a Nissan Titan, which is virtually the same truck as the one my wife drives? AND there are adorable interruptions courtesy of the shop dog? It's like this channel was made just for me. It's everything I want out of a car based KZbin channel! You want to hear the funny part? I just got rid of my 2005 Accord coupe, and as I scrolled down through your video listings, there sits a junkyard revival of exactly the same car, LOL. I wish I had found this place a year ago. The only thing that would make it any better is if you bought a version of the car I replaced the Accord with, an Infiniti G37. A man can dream. But that's a small quibble - thanks for accidentally making my ideal KZbin channel, without even asking me about it first.

Thanks for posting this video. It was inspiration to replace the alternator in my 2007 titan this afternoon. I didn't even need to do the wheel well splash guard thing. I was able to do everything from the bottom. Hardest thing was getting that top bolt to budge. It was originally torqued super tight and, with the force of the breaker bar and socket, I thought I'd either round off the head (12 point 14mm socket) or snap the bolt. I ended up using a 6 point socket and the breaker bar. It fought me the whole way out of the threaded insert. Getting the alternator out was pretty snug and I had to squeeze some of the rubber hoses quite firm to get it through "the birth canal". Great tip about getting that lower mount bracket out of the way. It had three bolts in it. After removing the alternator bolt, I removed the next closest bolt and loosened the third one just enough to swing the bracket out of the way. Getting the new one in was really snug and required some thought to position the ears to get it through all while you're fighting gravity too. Thanks again for the vid.

I'm glad to see this confirmed. I disconnected everything from the alternator and only have half of the long bolt left to pull out. I took a meal break while thinking, "I bet I can get that alternator out from underneath". So, while eating a bowl of shrimp wanton noodles, I found your video. Yep, forget taking all the extra stuff off above the alternator. Why make it harder than it needs to be?

Can confirm. Was able to take alternator out the bottom, with some finagling around the hoses. However on resinstall i removed one of the bottom hoses for ease, which was a simple tension clip, hose removal and pount the hose up so not to drain. This made going back is much easier as didnt have to finagle while figthing the weight of the part. From start to finish was 4 hours which included all setup/cleanup and having to grind my armor plate bolts off as the allen key heads were stripped. Also I didnt even use the wheel well to access any parts, however indid open it up, it ended up serving as exta light. Overall this was a straightforward and easy repair compared to other things I've encountered working on my Titan

I have a 2010 pro-4x with the tranny cooler. I ran into the same issue that @northtrader ran into. I had to wiggle it out while forcing past some hoses. It was uncomfortable but it worked very well. No damage to the lines. Replaced last week and all is good. Still took me about 6 hours to do. Biggest problem was that I had a short breaker bar and no power tools to loosen that 14mm.

oh yea! I was a Porsche guy until 2020... when my brother passed away and the family gave me his 1967 Firebird... first time working on an American Iron car... but I have to say... I like it!!!!! Thank you so much for your comment, makes the time and effort of putting together these videos so worth it... god knows its not about the KZbin money lol hahahhahaha

You should be fine, just don't go over board around the alternator.

What were the signs you needed a new alternator
@ArrowheadGarage Жыл бұрын
Normal voltage while running should be about 13.5+ mine was around 11.9 which means the alternator isn’t working. Hope this helps

Could be a weld or a bearing on one of your pullies going out! Take windex and spray each pully and when it stops you found the one to replace
