Thanks for the video! Changed a friends today and what was an alternator job turned out to be a radiator and alternator job. My advice to anyone doing this - be extraordinary careful around those two radiator nipples While removing one of the fan assembly bolts we broke off one of the nipples. Off to the store to replace the radiator too! So be careful! Thanks again !

Luckily I found the alternator for $160 and I had the dealer I bought it from 1.5 years ago replace it for $180 labor. I felt that was definitely worth it after watching the video, and I work on commercial HVAC equipment for a living.

That is pretty nice! If you want to keep the Lexus as reliable as it advertised, install OEM part's and it will run forever!)

$180 for labour?? Takes 3 to 4 hours minimum to install a new alternator. In Canada it's $120 per hour labour so $480. How did you pay $180 😮

Thank you. This is a great video. Saved me so much time in tackling this project myself. Unfortunately, that lower fitting on the radiator snapped off. The hose fittings on the radiator are very brittle because of the age. I had to replace my radiator while replacing my alternator. If the new alternator and radiator last another twelve years I'm good with that. The Lexus RX350 is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. I went with a 130 amp alternator replacement.

The thumbnail shows the DRL is bright white (LED?) if so, can you tell me how you did that? I’m not having any luck replacing the halogen bulbs with LED.

To access and remove the right rear 12mm bolt, remove the dip stick support, move the dip stick to right side (don’t remove the dipstick!) by rotating the dipstick bracket counterclockwise. This will allow the use of a 3/8” 12mm socket attached with 3/8” universal to a 3” and 10” extension and access and removal can easily be accomplished from the top. Note: the fan unit must be removed.

Sorry is didn't show it in the video, but we did disconnect the Dip Stick tube. Thanks for pointing out!

Good video, but there's no need to remove the radiator fans at all. Simply remove the hose and pipe leading to the thermostat (need to remove idler to do this). Then remove the three bolts holding the ABS unit to the chassis. After you've removed the three alternator bolts you will have sufficient room to remove the alternator. Removing the rear alternator bolt is a little tricky. The alternator is held to the engine block with a bracket (part number 125110P010). You can use a deep 12mm socket to unbolt the bracket from the block.

In terms of fan, it definitely makes work easier, but in my case I didn’t really know what I was doing, but overall job is not that hard. Thanks for the comment!

i got a v6 but the dealer told me mine was 100amp one should i keep it at that or will the 130 amp be okay too??
@Makhnovets2 жыл бұрын
It dosn't matter as far as you not using heavy power draw, for example, if you will have like 1000+ watt inverter installed, Ill do the 130amp. if it's a regular use the stock will work same good. It will not harm if you would install the bigger alternator, but it will if you do opposite...

Dealership: The average cost for a Lexus RX350 alternator replacement is between $925 and $1,040. Labor costs are estimated between $412 and $520 while parts are priced between $514 and $520. in regular shop you probably gonna be looking on 3-4hours of labor + part which can go from $180-$500. ($500-$1000)depends on Part Price.

You might blow the fuse, or the alternator has a different input for power regulator. If you didn't short anything, then the problem in the alternator itself.
