So this valve broke again, I only replaced it in the summer last year. I got another one from Screwfix (for about £10) and decided to document how I did it this time. Just because.
My loo is an Armitage Shanks 'Sandringham' close-coupled toilet, I imagine there are quite a few toilet like this across the world. The part that I am replacing is called an 9.5inch (that's the height) bottom fill valve from Ideal Standard (same company as Armitage Shanks).
It's easy enough to do this if you follow instructions but if you are at all uneasy go ahead and call for a plumber!
Most important thing to remember is TURN OFF THE WATER SUPPLY and empty out the water out of the cistern before you unscrew the inlet hose...
