I already watched this once when replacing the TPS on my 95 Nissan maxima the first time. But I'm replacing it again. I thought the transmission was going out, it was slipping so bad. Some one told me to test the TPS because the idle was surging up and it was bad, replaced it and no more transmission problems. Thanks again as always for the videos!!

great vid. I do have a question. We have a 2003 Nissan Frontier where we replaced the TPS, but now it wants shift funny between first and second. Revs up before shipping from 1 to 2. Like 3000 rpm then shifts. I read a lot where it says the TPS needs to relearn the transmission, but every relearning pattern I've tried doesn't work. It still shifts funning from 1 to 2. Then I got a code for TPS low voltage. Does this mean that it's just not adjusted right? anyways I'll take any help you can offer. 2003 frontier 3.3 auto trans. thanks again

Note before you remove old TPS, take a sharp object and mark plastic part of sensor and housing it sets in-use these marks when replacing new TPS---just like timing marks used on older cars.....

very, very educative and on point. My 2001 Infiniti I30 idles up and down when heated up. this been going on for a while. I've changed MAFS, Throttle body more than once. However, they're used but the problem continues. sometimes it stalls, you push the gas, the car don't move and you can see the meter go up but not moving. 8:23. Reset TPS procedure Does this also work for a 2001 maxima? I am having strange idle issues. I have tightened the throttle cable bolts which got lose. It idles at 700-800rpm fine but my son says sometimes it randomly revs up and down when in park after 3-4 mins. Like when you are waiting for a curbside order pickup. I do see the TPS change on my live data when pausing the gas. Can you disconnect the TPS brown connector while it’s running to see if the idle smiths out? If it’s happening I haven’t been able to reproduce it. Could this also be IAC? No codes present with my scanner other than p0744 (transmission TCC) Throttle body was recently removed to replace rear valve cover gasket. And cleaned with carb cleaner as shop blue towels.

My GWM Steed 3 idles perfect at 700 RPM and then at random times climes to between 1500 - 2500 RPM for a few seconds and then drops back to 700 RPM and sometimes drops to below 500 RPM and then stalls. Bare in mind the catalytic converter has been removed about 3 years now and never had this problem before. What can be the cause?

What about a TPS that has only has the screw holes that can't be adjusted and fits on one way only"? I just put on a new TPS on a 1997 Toyota Avalon (I disconnetd the battery first because I was told to do that before I even take the old one off). Both the original Toyota TPS and the new replacement part just have two stationary screw holes that are non-adjustable. (only fits on one way) I did however, notice that I had to twist the sensor slightly in order the match up the screw holes after inserting the part on the little gear inside the TPS Throttle body mount. (it was maybe a 1/4 inch off. The sensor has a little tension spring inside that allows you to turn it slightly to match u the screw holes. I'm assuming no adjusting of the sensor would be necessary since it only fits on one way? Or is there some other adjustment that I'm not aware of? Also, once I've put the new TPS on, how long does the ECU take to re-learn the new TPS and respond accordingly? And will I see improved performance immediately after installation or will the car continue to run badly until the ECU finishes relearning the new part? Thank you!

I have a 2000 maxima 3.0 did a tune up cause mileage it was due for one. Car was running fine prior changed plugs used oem and coils also oem tested have spark at each cylinder. Changed Mas, pcv, ignition condenser, and crankshaft sensor in front now car runs horrible. No power takes 5 seconds to hit 10 mph and will run 1st to almost 7000 and then bang to second. Hi. I've got a 2003 Montero Limited 3.8L. Twice so far (1,000 miles apart) mine has gone into a condition where it will not accelerate. It idles and starts fine, but will not go over 40mph on level road, and takes a long time to get to that speed (severel minutes). It will be fine one moment and then begin this malfunction in the middle of driving it, in town or on interstate. I do have a TPS sensor code (P2135) but also cam and crankshaft sensors codes. The timing system is fine and it doesn't jerk or do anything strange except refuse to accelerate. I can turn it off and after 20 minutes it will operate fine again. Is the the TPS sensor getting hot and then it fails?

I opened my throttle body and cleaned it, also cleaned the position sensor now my car having issue when I start moving the rpm goes suddenly up and down in low gears below 60 kilometers per hour. And has some rough shifting. I adjusted the sensor as you explained and reset the sensor without a scan tool as you explained in the video my RPM is around 800 and the car runs with no issue above 60km. Dude I just want to kiss you on the lips so hard. And I'm totally straight.. you have no idea how your instructions have helped me out. I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima the only thing is my screws were stripped at the head. I had to just break up the sensor and use a pliers to screw the screws out. This sir has saved me so much headache. My 97 Maxima has 312,000 miles and of course that part would have gone by now. The shift points are so much stronger now.

2000 nissan Pathfinder. It sat for 3+ years, it was given to my child and the idle runs high and will not shift past 2nd and the RPM will jump up, we shift it into 2 low and the rpm will come down but its not shifting. We were told the rpm's were not adjusted but I have never seen where you couldn't manipulate to get the vehicle to shift. We did change out the trans fluid without flushing it or cleaning off the magnet. and that did help a lot but still have the issue. How can I trouble shoot the issue? one time it did not want to go into reverse but it only happened once and that was right after it sat after an accident.

Well, just did the replacement, and now when I rev in park it surges up and down quickly until I release, or I can sort of rev through it and it smooths out over 4k rpm. But when driving it feels so much better, so I am just gonna roll with it until it gives me trouble. I did the 20 ignition turns to hopefully reset it, and the idle air reset attempt. It acted the same before and after the idle air reset attempt. Did I fail the 20 key turns or what the hell is going on?

hi my daughters 98 maxima had bad injectors so i took the top end of the engine apart to replace injectors and while i was at it i replaced the coils. i put everything back together and the car idles super high (6-9k rpm) but if i put it into gear it settles down to around 2-3k drives for a lil bit then dies....i didnt touch anything on throttle body at all ...any ideas on what it could be.
