That far into it I would change the bearing as well. For you guys without a seal installer. 2 PCs of 2x4 One cut at 4 inches and a long one to hit. Use a nail or screw and attach the smaller to the end of the long one. And install the seal. While there just rebuilt the entire front end if you can afford it.

thanks ,,,question do l have to put grease on new seal axle? and wht is the oter way to put new cv axle l mean on hard way do l have to hummer it? thaks and good video
@NewRoad3 жыл бұрын
You can put a bit of grease, I didn't. No, do not hammer it - watch this video that explain how to insert (c-clip position down): kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4Wrf4Jpprudl9U

@@NewRoad I’m sorry I watched the other video over and over to see the c clip position but I couldnt make it out. Do you put the open cut part of the clip facing down or do you consider that the back of the clip? Thanks so much, reason I ask is because I have had terrible hopping on the front and I think the cv axle I installed was the problem. I probably goofed up on the install.
@beurownboss15542 жыл бұрын
Wow never mind, I watched your older video like 8 times and couldn’t see the c clip direction, can’t believe how clear you point it out in this one at 11:50. I def did that part upside down on my install. Wonder if that caused the issue, I’ll pull it back out and redo hopefully with more success. Thanks again

QQ, after you installed the axle into the differential, did it have any movement (up/down/sideways). Mine has movement 1/8 inch. Do you think it might be the bearing? Or other? Thanks in advance
@NewRoad3 жыл бұрын
I can't recall noticing any movement in mine. Is it only on one side? Did you have any noise while driving before? might be bearing - but my guess would be as good as yours 😉
@bajies4wdtours3 жыл бұрын
@@NewRoad thank you for the quick reply. Passenger side only, small leak. No noise...just movement when I grib it. That's what I was thinking with the bearing, can't image the needle bearing would hold it that tight. It might :). Still fishing with dynamite :)

@@bajies4wdtours I have a 21 Colorado ZR2 that's lifted. Trying to figure out a small clunking noise when backing out of the driveway. Noticed the cv Axle has about 1/8 play just as you described. No leaking. Did you get any idea if this is normal?

@@armandonavarro9590 the movement is normal on vehicles that have been lifted or leveled in the front. For the nosie, I would look at the CV, does it only happen goes backwards?

My seal for the cv axle is leaking pretty bad and I need the vehicle. The culprit I believe is a bad wheel hub. You think I could just replace the seal to make my truck drivable for another week while my new wheel hub ships to me? Or will this ruin the new seal and possible damage other components from a bad wheel hub. I won’t get it until 5-6 days from now.

What lift kit did you get? I never heard about fox lift kit for H3
@reneluna2493 жыл бұрын
I don’t know which one I went to a shop it was a year ago. They got it for me and put it on. I have a video on my channel. I was thinking on just putting a longer boot on it
@NewRoad3 жыл бұрын
Fox never made lifts. The only true lifts for Hummer H3 that were made - were 4 inch lift by Rancho and Tuff Country. Those who sell 1-2 inch "lift kit" are lying - those are not lift kits. You probably got one of those, Fox shocks and extended shackles and they claimed it is 3 inch. Take a look at this video and check your front heights: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXu7omhug999r6c. If it is more than 23.5 inch high - it may cause the problem with CV shaft. Also, if your CV shaft is not AC Delco - but one of the cheap aftermarket - you may have this problem as well.

Just an fyi...whenever I'm going to replace a part that leaves a "sensitive to dirt" area open and, as you see here requires wiping away of dirt right next to a hole into a "sensitive to dirt area" I recommend a good pressure washing 1st. Oh..on the safety side...if you can afford a Hummer you can afford a bloody hammer...unless a bloody hammer is your goal. Good vid other than the safety issue and the possibility of maybe a good cleaning of the area one is working on before one works on it
