How to Replace Bad Fuel Injectors on Ford Ranger

The Ford 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine in the Ford Ranger is easy to maintain, but his includes fuel injector, fuel pressure regulator, or fuel rail maintenance. Please be careful when working around fuel and fuel components as it is very flammable and dangerous.

Were you having start up issues initially? Can't get our 2004 to turn over. Changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter but still not turning over.

Question for you - were you having start up issues? Trying to figure out what's next since I'm not getting it to turn over. Changed the fuel pump and fuel filter. Still sounding like its out of gas (got at least 1/2 tank).

No, I was having hesitation issues. There are a few things that can cause your problem. Search “ranger crank no start” to narrow your results. First thing I would check is to see if the pump is humming when the key is turned on. Have somebody do it while you listen under the truck. Might have wiring issues at the pump? Please check all fuses and swap fuel pump relay if you can.

all had to do to take the fuel rail out was unbolt the fuel pressure regulator and then bolt it back up after putting the rail back on the injectors.

Thanks for the feedback, my initial goal was to replace it all, so I would have wanted the regulator replaced with the rail. I’m having a “stumble” under load early in my drive, after that time it will normalize.
