This video shows you how to install a ball joint on your 2010-2018 Volkswagen Jetta. Car and truck suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how.

Remove the three nuts from the arm, remove driveshaft bolt and drive shaft from hub. nut for ball joint easily accessible....

Hello, I have a question in regards to the ball joint and it’s three bolts. I bought a replacement that supposedly matches my ‘06 Jetta but the ball joint is too stiff to get the bolts to go through and be tightened. My question is: does it have to be that stiff or did I get a defective part? Thank you very much in advance.

I’ve ran into the issue where I can’t get the ball joint to tighten because the dumb cv axle blocks the hex bit so I can tighten it down

100nm on those 3 bolts cant be right. i got to 60nm after that the skrewing just broke💀

Please do not cheap out and use TRQ ball joints , I’ve never had a ball joint failure until my 1997 with TRQ less than 6 months old snapped right at the stud

Thanks for the horrible torque spec it stretched the studs they’re supposed to be 60nm

Beating the knuckle with a hammer is disturbing and not best practices IMO. There are ball joint separating tools available. Right tool for the job instead of blunt force.

Good video, but dumb way to separate the old ball joint. No jacking needed. Get a long punch or rod and give the old ball joint a single firm blow from the top. Voila.
