Works fine and have had no issues so far...my kid has never ran the battery to where the shutoff kicks in but it has WAY more runtime...

Just putting that out there it's quite safe to run a 36 volt lithium ion battery pack such as from hoverboards in the razor dune buggy without any issues. The stock ESC can handle it even with a 200 lb person speeds are around 15 mph top speed and probably 17mph plus with a very light kid. The main issue to remember with the stock speed control is not to go over 30 amps continuous on the batteries output. that's the stock speed controllers top amperage handling capability.

Thanks! I wish I would have know that but I was scared to overload it.

@@BubbasWorkshop yeah no problem I had to search forums long and wide before I found out it was possible before I did the mod

Do you have a link you could share for the 36V battery you suggest using?

@@jeffmascherino9750 hey did you ever find it ? I got one and it needs new batteries and I want replace with good one maybe longer and faster ride ( just want to swap batteries)

You should have put a link for everything in the description so we could purchase the same stuff.
I guess there would be no issues with charging directly to the batteries instead of going though Controller like the original? I plan on doing this exact mod to our buggy.

The existing controller/charger is setup for sealed lead acid batteries so it doesn't charge them up high enough (voltage) and is also crazy slow. One of the good things with using lion batteries is you can charge them a lot faster.

Just bought a used one off of facebook and want to make some modifications. I change out the wheels already with rubber tires. The batteries that are in it need to be replaced and I haven't popped open the back to see what I can fit. I actually have a 24v lifepo4 60AH battery that I'm considering. See any issue there? Loving the meter you attached btw.

If that 24v battery will fit it should work fine. The meter is great HOWEVER I need to reprogram it because it just isn't very accurate...the instructions were crazy confusing (probably triple translated) so I need to go back and give it another shot.

This was all unnecessarily complicated. You could have just replaced the battery pack with two lithium iron phosphate batteries. You should not have soldered to the terminals. Geez. SO many things wrong with how did this.

You do know you can't charge reg batteries with a lipo charger it don't charge the same. Led acid takes it's own kind and lipo takes it's own kind and lithium takes it's own. I would recommend charging any other batteries with that other then the lipo.
