Thanks so much as always!!! Was working on my parking brakes , moved the calipers then my hard line just snapped. Most likely moving back and forth did it🤦♂️. Glad I can watch your repairs/replacements. Please keep posting very informative vlogs

Here's a trick, if you put something like a jack stand so it lightly presses the brake pedal, it closes off a valve in the master cylinder (or something) and greatly minimizes the amount of drip you get when changing the brake lines.

If you put a tripled sheet of cling film on the MC & secure with the screw lid it stops the fluid pissing out ;-) ... You can also use the rubber bleed nipple on the hardline flare...

Did you use any crush washers? I’m asking cos my lines did not come with them, but the instructions on the box says to use them.
@HelpMeDIY3 жыл бұрын
+Mr G I don’t remember using any, but I showed exactly what I did in this video so feel free to go back and watch again to confirm.

Just trying to fit SS lines to my '06 Cayman & the 10mm hardline nut on mine is seized solid... Rounded off the fookin flats too trying all sorts to get it to free up! :-/

@@HelpMeDIY I've now bought my own kit so I can make my own hardlines... The prices for pre-made caliper to flexi-hose hardlines in the UK is ridiculous ;-)

do feel much of a difference now they are changed over?
@HelpMeDIY3 жыл бұрын
+Tom Baverstock no, since I haven’t tracked the car. That’s when you would feel it... with prolonged hard breaking the line won’t expand at all to feel soft or even break if it wears out.

@@HelpMeDIY yeah I'm swapping out pads and fluid after my track day at Anglesey last week. OEM was fine until the weather improved and things got hot. Going for Ferodo DS2500 pads, Castrol SRF fluid and SS hoses. Only options after that is fitting big brake kits which gets expensive : /

Looks like you didn’t really needed to disconnect the hard line from the caliper .
@HelpMeDIY4 жыл бұрын
They were disconnected because I had just finished painting the calipers

@@HelpMeDIY just to let you know, you just cost me $150. :) i just finished installing new pads and rotors on my 996. i will wait for the new lines i've just ordered before i proceed with the bleeding. we don't have much to do anyways. thanks for the great video. i love it when people show their "mistakes" or "failures", so other can learn from it (unlike some youtubers that makes everything look like its a walk in the park). i also ordered a high quality 10mm flare wrench.
