It's been a while but I don't remember having the engine running while bleeding the brake lines on any cars I worked on. Always had two people when we did it. Is it necessary when only one person is bleeding the brakes?

Did you put the cap on after bleeding the master cylinder for you can bleed the brake lines

Unfortunately I’ve never seen anybody bleed the brakes with the engine on it’s not necessary you might do more harm than good

I do it this way because it is much easier for me and the brake pedal is not hard at all, Honda does not tell you to either run or engine off when bleeing the brakes, how ever I choose this way. thanks for your comment and visit to this channel.

Hi there!Can you please tell me before you have replaced the master cylinder,how was your brake pedal? I have the same car and yesterday I went to do the MOT on it and when the engine was off,and you press the brake pedal,the pedall makes a sound and it goes all the way to the floor, getting soft.If the car engine is on,the brake pedal is getting harder at the beginning and if you press it the car stops just fine,but if you press it and keep press the car stops but you can feel the brake pedal going all the way slowly to the floor...My mecanic said to me that is the servo booster pump that's not good,and I don't know if to buy only the pump or get the master cylinder too.Can you please tell me what was happening in your case?Thank you!

3 ways to check master cylinder: disconnect it from brake lines and see if fluid is coming out of the ports, if fluid is coming out of all ports that is a good thing , second put plugs in the ports so no fluid comes out and depress brake pedal a few times and if pedal gets really hard then you have good master cylinder so far, last: bench test by bleeding it if fluid keeps coming out while bleeding it then finally you know you have a good master cylinder.

I have done that and now,the brake pedal is hard when engine is not on,as the engine is on,the brake pedal will get softer and If I press the brake is really soft .The brakes are holding but I need my brakes to be hard when the engine is on.Whay can I do?

hi and thanks for the visit, did you test it before installing it? so many defective now at days even if they are new, also honda is hard to bleed, check for leaks, finally test the brake booster and as a last the hydraulic control unit, most of the time it is about bleeding especially hondas.
