Stan, I have seen THOUSANDS of these types of videos, but the way you did it is GREAT. Sometimes the recorder will assume that the person watching understands everything, but you have done a FINE job of explaining what needed explaining, and NOT explaining the trivialities of the job. You explain things the way I do. I appreciate that. Thanks.

Btw, the other lights work PRDNL, ABS, check engine etc. I appreciate any feedback you can give. Tina

I'm pretty critical of many youtube videos as they are often absolutely terrible, incorrect info, first timers who don't know squat trying to teach others, horrible photography, the list goes on and on but you seem to have nailed it. I can't find one word of criticism and anyone who has any mechanical aptitude whatsoever should be able to do this. It was truly a pleasure to watch and very easy to understand. You should give lessons to most others on youtube!!!! I'm doing my corolla tomorrow. Thank you.

Thanks for watching! And from what I've looked at since this video, I don't think it's actually illegal in very many, if any, states. Just read some cautions about safety, and what law enforcement might think if they pulled you over for something, and they walked up to a car with a totally dark interior. I know it felt weird at night to not know my actual speed, or if I was getting too low on gas, so I had to get it taken care of as soon as possible. Hope the video helped!

@HowSkills7 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen any videos specifically for that model, which is strange. It might be similar to what I describe in this video, but I can't be sure. The main thing would be locating the correct screws to remove to get the instrument cluster loose. After that, I would think unfastening the wiring harnesses from the back of it would be a similar procedure, allowing you to remove the instrument cluster so you could work on it. But, it could be a totally different procedure for your model year. Sorry, I couldn't help!

Attempting to do this tomorrow since mine are also blown out in my 97 Corrolla. Two things: 1) What if your car doesn''t have a steering column adjustment option? Will it be a problem popping out the center console? 2) Do we need to disconnect the battery first? I've heard if you don't it could possibly set off the airbag while you're working on it.
@HowSkills7 жыл бұрын
You should still be able to maneuver the center console piece out - it's just easier with the column adjusted down and out of the way. To be on the safe side, I would go ahead and disconnect the battery. I honestly didn't, but now that you mention it, I think it's a good precaution!
@SpideySensei727 жыл бұрын

Stan, Thank you. I believe I saw the fuel gauge still up. Is it possible that it does not work ( as mine, 06/2019)? Could it be that the magnetic bits damaged some area of the dashboard circuit board that has to do with the fuel gauge? Or was the key still in the ignition? I have heard of magnets damaging even computers. Will you please show how to fix an stacked fuel gauge and non working speedometer gauge? Both work during cold weather in Florida and cool nights in summertime so what could else could it be? I did watch a video of somebody showing how the wiring covers under the hood get burn due to the excess of heat in Florida and now I am going out to check that first and then the fuses. Many thanks again.

The fuel gauge still worked, and I did still have the key in the ignition. And I’m sorry, but I’m not familiar with how to fix the stacked fuel gauge and speedometer. But thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!

Thanks for the video I have a 2000 Corolla CE that the turn indicator went out, so this'll be helpful. Also, off topic but what do ya mean ignore the ducks? Rubber ducks are awesome, lol

For LED light replacement is their anything additional one must do?
@HowSkills6 жыл бұрын
No, it’s the same procedure as for the regular bulbs. Thank you for watching!

Ok thank you very much Mr.Cravens. The instructions mentioned soldering and I was sent the bulb socket holders
@HowSkills6 жыл бұрын
I was able to get the LED bulbs that plugged into the sockets without any soldering needed. Can you send me the item number of those bulbs? Were they from Amazon?
@eomyenom16 жыл бұрын
Stan Cravens Sorry for the delay the ones I got didn’t need soldering after all. I just had to adjust the positive and negative terminals on the bulb and I used the bulb socket holders that came with the bulbs. It looks amazing. Thank you for creating this video as it easily saved me $150 at least.

Awesome, going to have to do this for my fuel gauge. Any clue what happens if you leave the color covers off? Does that make the light white?
@HowSkills7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will make the lights shine white, so really no harm done. You just won't have the original colors showing up on the dash. The covers can get brittle over time, so they could even rip when you try to take them off the old bulbs, or put them on the new lights. So, you might not even have a choice about it. Thanks for watching!
