Instead of getting speaker adaptors, it's also possible to cut out the cone from the stock speakers (which have no resale value) and screw the new speakers directly onto the plastic basket of the old ones

Hi there! First of all, thank you for sharing this video and parts list. The camera work was first rate and you really made it easy to follow. What size drill-bit did you use to drill the rivets from the stock speakers? 👍up!
@ProjectDIY2 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! I don’t remember exactly what size it was the same size as the hole in the speaker. Probably a little bigger than an 1/8 inch bit.

Thanks for sharing. Do you think you’ll need to add an amplifier in the future? Thanks in advance. 🙏🏼🫶🏼
@ProjectDIY2 Жыл бұрын
No, it’s plenty loud enough for me with my aftermarket head unit. I can’t speak for any other head unit though.

No issues with these being 3ohms vs the stocks that are 4? Also did you check the polarity, keep seeing this as a potential issue with the wiring harnesses.
@ProjectDIY2 Жыл бұрын
I didn’t test the polarity, although it’s pretty easy to tell by the sound when you’re out of phase. Sounds perfect to me! No issues with the ohm difference. Just makes them a little louder.
@jase002002 Жыл бұрын
Crutchfield told me that JBL have conducted extensive research on their 3ohm speakers and they work fine with a minimum 4 ohm-rated head unit - Crutchfield said that they get asked about this all of the time.

One thing you overlooked: never replace all the door trim before testing the speakers. I know you're very experienced, but some viewers may have never done this type of work before.

Did you add an amp as well? Would you recommend this upgrade with stock head unit and no aftermarket amp? Thanks for the upload brotha! Got a like a sub from me!
@ProjectDIY2 Жыл бұрын
I did not install an amp. They were loud enough for me. Yes I would recommend these and the dash speakers even e with the stock head unit. They are a huge improvement!
