JMT you a man of many talents ! Sorry that you had to spend 4th of July on the highway with this problem. It’s good to know how to deal with problem. Interesting video. Great job as always. 👏

Thank you very much! It wasn't fun spending the holiday weekend like this but I'm glad I have new parts and a operating work vehicle. Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week! 🔧⚡️

I replaced the alternator on my coworkers work van yesterday - 2012, Econoline E350 V 10. The tensioner took a 1/2” ratchet - although serpentine belt tool from Harbor Freight would’ve made the job much easier as my ratchet head was almost too fat to fit in there with the fan blade right up against the tensioner. Tools needed for the record a are a 3/8 inch ratchet with an 8, 10, 13 mm socket, a 1/2 inch ratchet for the tensioner, and a number two Phillips screwdriver (to remove the clips on the radiator plastic trim piece so you can access the airbox bolts to remove).

Жить или умереть. Great vid, always better to DIY if you can manage. Learning never stops.

Are you sure a special door is required for the tensioner? I changed the alternator on my 2005 e150 because the bearings went bad and all i needed to remove the tension was a 3/8 drive breaker bar the tensioner has a square hole in the middle of it. what year is your van clearly newer than mine based on the front grill

❄🇺🇸👍💪 jmt super tech. No vehicle no work no $$. Last week my van had 2 tires with 2 nails n what I hoped was a patch job turned into a nightmare. 4 visits in 5 days back to the mechanics to get the van right. Headache but all good now. 👍🏼

What an engineering mess. I have been in vans since the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. They got progressively difficult to fix. I now have a 2000 ford E250 and this is way more than my 92 dodge van.

That jumpstart, if you could have kept hooked up for 5 to 10 minutes to put some charge on the battery, after you cleaned the dirty terminals, would have given you enough juice to drive with no accessories turned on. Do your headlights come on automatically when you turn the key, I think unplugging the Daytime Running Lamp Module will stop the lights drawing unnecessary current. Now that things are fixed, try disconnecting the module to see what happens.

Damn bro' that Sucks! Been there done that 😂 My first. Car a 67 Corvair, the alternator crapped out on the way home from buying it😮 It was already broken so it's not like you're gonna break it again.

Next time please include a measurement of the actual charging current/voltage, to "prove" that the new alternator will actually charge the battery. If i'm not too much mistaken, this is the car you changed the battery a while ago... in a garage i think... there and then you may have found out about a dead alternator. Depending on the amount of usage and therefore discharge of the then new battery.

Thats a good tip. Next time I will. I did make a video like that regarding the same type of truck in a garage but that wasn't this vehicle. That was a friend's truck which I mentioned in the video. You could also see he has a logo on his van & I don't. The alternator was definitely bad and time for a change out. This is the 2nd replacement for this van. Truck goes back to 2008. Thanks for your input & for watching. Stay tuned for new videos every week! 🔧⚡️

If you can do alternator spark plugs even easier just wd30 all bolts first please don’t over read what I said then when tightening bolts hand tightening flush then one hard slow turn right to make sure everything right don’t overtighten

Your like a surgeon with ur gloves on.? Did u borrow the tensioner tool? One of hardest is working on the road (cops , traffic, noise, danger, etc.!) One guy got killed repairing on the open road!!!! If u rent, ur on the road! Or pay a mech..

I had to change the alternator in my Lexus at about 25 years. Turned into a bit of an ordeal because of a broken bolt, but it's good now.
