When removing the quick release fitting you must first push the fitting onto the pipe. That will allow you to push both releases in and separate the coller from the keeper.

Thank you for watching our auto repair video that shows you how to replace the heater core hose on a Ford Expedition. We tried that, mu truck has 200,000 on it, this may be an easier repair on a low mileage truck that is also in a dryer climate.

I used a Dremel and small cutting wheel to carefully grind the plastic quick-connects until the hose pulled off. Saved hours.

That's awesome to hear! Dremels can really save the day when it comes to tricky tasks like that. Glad you found a solution!

Helpful video. Took me about 1.5 hours for my 2014 Expedition. Tabs on 2 of the upper hose connections would not release. Very fiddly and annoying job. I found it was better to let the tabs stay open for 10 minutes to get them re-acclimated to the “open” position. Cost me $139.45 on 9/5/24 for delivered to my house next day Dorman parts 626-642 lower and 626-585 upper, with the Auto Zone 20% discount. So, your part numbers were spot on. Thank you for the tutorial. Love your videos.

I started smelling coolant through my vents in the car. I have a 2011 Ford expedition. And I changed the radiator changed the hoses and I also changed the thermostat as well. I checked in the car and under the hood I didn't see any leaks from those other areas in which I changed. So I'm assuming that this could be my problem.

Mine leaked. If they are not leaking it may be something else. check the passenger side carpet to see if is wet from the heater core leaking

Those hoses are easy to put on if you just do the removal in reverse. Put the locking clip on first till it stops. Push the hose on while trying to line up the locking pin holes on the hose with the clips. They slide right on and lock in place. You also will be assured the o ring is seated on the pipe.

Thanks for watching and also the added tip. We literally tried everything. Mine were a little stubborn.

This was so hard. I just got tiny snippers and cut the clips. Still took 20 minutes to get the angle and not slip. It's just that one back set of clips. The rest was easy. My hands hurt, my back hurts, im taking a shower then a nap. Thanks for the video. I thought i was missing something. Hopefully the dorman metal replacement lasts and i never have to do this again. One question, i have no rear heat now. Is there a check valve in the core? Guessing i put the input and output backwards. Will this cause issues with coolant getting ti engine? Not sure how the cooling loop is done.

I'm not really sure if there is a way to mix these connections up. I would feel the hoses to see if they are getting hot when the truck is up to temperature. Watch this video then double check your connections. Hope this helps you out.
@austint115110 ай бұрын
@@HomeownerRepair you can mix them up on the rear core. It's the Y shaped line, not the T one. The two aluminum lines underneath. Same connector, the two lines look the same. Oh well, I'll just swap them and see what happens. Thanks for the reply

2 ways to get this line off one is the tool that's designed for it or squeeze the tab push in on the line and then pull it will leave the tab on the broad and allow the hose to come off but there's a tool no fight!!!

If it's a "quick" disconnect, why does it take so long to remove? What idiot designed that?
@HomeownerRepair2 ай бұрын
It's more like a quick connect. The disconnect is a royal pain.
